OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
This week your donations were put to good use by helping a family struggling with bills and medical expenses. Project 58 assisted them with a rent payment.

. Hillcrest Transitional Housing Work Days


October 12th from 8 AM - 3 PM
WOLC partners with Hillcrest to provide fully furnished, rent-free apartments to four homeless families each year. Volunteers are needed for cleaning, painting, landscaping, plumbing, electrical, dry wall, flooring, HVAC, roofing, carpentry, etc. Call Megan Taylor at the church office for more information.

. Operation Helping Hands Work Day


THIS Saturday, September 28th from 8 AM - 3 PM
Volunteers are needed to assist a WOLC widow with home repairs. Plumbing, painting, and basic repair skills are helpful but not necessary. Call Megan Taylor at the church office for more info.

. Octoberfest 2013
Saturday, October 5, 6-9 PM
Word of Life's annual fall festival will feature a giant corn maze and tons of hot dogs, brats, popcorn, cider, and funnel cakes. We'll have hayrides, games for the kids, live music, and much more for an evening of fun for everyone. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs, and invite friends, coworkers, and perfect strangers!

. Word of Life Kids (WOLK)


Because September is a month with a 5th Sunday, there will be no WOLK elementary service on Friday, September 27 or Sunday, September 29. This way, we give our great volunteers a break, and families can enjoy services together. See you in October.

. Baptism
Sunday, October 13
Every prospective Christ-follower should be baptized. Baptism is the public declaration of each believers identification with Jesus and with his church. If youve not been baptized yet, Sunday, October 13 will be a great opportunity to go for it! We will be baptizing in both services. Its easy to register for baptism-visit the foyer table, fill out a Connect Card and drop it in the offering, sign up online at WOLC.COM, or call the church office.

. Pajama Jam
Sunday, October 6
During the 9 and 11 AM services, children in our nursery through the fifth grade are encouraged to come to church in their pajamas and slippers for a morning of fun, cartoons, and games. Information is available at the Word of Life Kids check-in desk in the foyer.

. Celebrate Recovery (CR)


This Wednesday, October 2 5:30 PM The Life Center
Join us for our monthly fellowship meal at 5:30 PM. Then at 6:30, we will have large group discussion, followed by small group breakout sessions. CR is a safe place of support for anyone dealing with difficult life issues like domestic violence, divorce, codependency, anger, sexual addiction, eating disorders, gambling, abuse, and more. It is our prayer that through the ministry of CR, youll find a house of friends, a healing community, and help through Gods healing power as we encourage one another on the road to recovery.

. The Missouri Heart Gallery


October 23 through 25
The Missouri Heart Gallery exhibition is coming to the Word of Life main foyer in just a few weeks. The gallery will display stirring portraits of kids in foster care awaiting a home with an adoptive family, and is a compelling representation of the many Missouri children who are looking for forever families. The Heart Gallery exhibition also will provide adoption information and help prospective adoptive and foster parents begin the process.

. More Small Group Opportunities


We have three more small groups starting in October covering themes like parenting, living in spiritual community, and gratitude. Small groups are a great way for all of us to make friends and grow in the faith. For more information and to register, check out the Small Groups table in the foyer this weekend. .

. Steve Parsons Concert


Friday, October 4 @ 7 PM
Steves aim is to help us live the lives God created us to live, and to encourage us in the journey of faith. Be sure to mark your calendars for this rare evening with Steve Parsons!

SERVICE TIMES
Sunday Mornings at 9 & 11 Friday Nights at 7 in the MYC Wednesday Prayer & Communion at noon in The Upper Room Communion is served every Sunday. The next Baptism is October 13. The next New Member Sunday September is 15.
