“The WHS 1500 unit was installed in a new home of 3,000 sq. ft. in the Spring of 1989. Using a
Wirsbo (Uponor) Hydronic radiant floor system, connected to the WHS. System is fired only
once per day even in January. 100% slab wood is used for fuel. “The benefit of once a day
firing is great, and I love the radiant floor heating.”

“The Long Lake Environmental Learning Facility uses a GARN Energy Center with 3-WHS
2000 units . The system was installed in 1985. Units heat over 15,000 sq. ft. divided among
four buildings. Storing the heat means convenience. An average winter day requires less than
30 minutes of fire tending, and it’s all in one location. There is little smoke and no creosote.
Additional GARN units were installed in a1998 expansion that doubled the capacity of the
center.”

“I just wanted to let you know how happy we are with the new GARN unit, it is working far
better than the old wood furnace we had and is much easier to operate. I had a Aqua 2 wood
furnace for 5 years and thought it did fairly well until I got the new GARN. With this season, I
am using nearly half the wood I used with the old furnace and getting more heat ; as we keep
our thermostat setting higher with the GARN unit. I am using the same hardwood fuel, mostly
maple and some beech; as was used in the old furnace. The clean burning high efficiency of
this furnace is very obvious and so superior, after using one of the other types of wood units
commonly offered.”

“We are writing this letter to let you know how much we enjoy and appreciate our GARN wood
boiler. We have lived in our home for 27 years and 25 1/2 of those years we have heated our
home with an Ashley wood stove. In those years, we got use to waking up to and coming
home to a cold home. We use to burn 8-10 cords of wood, but in February 2003, we got our
GARN fired up for the first time. The next morning we work up to a warmer house and also
cam home after work to a warmer house! It was great! When summer came around, we still
had wood left over for the very first time. This year it looks like we will use only 4-5 cords of
wood. When it has been below zero, we only fired our stove once a day for about 2-3hours and
when it was above 20°F, we would fire it every other day. There is less dust and no smoke in
our home now from the GARN stove. We would highly recommend the GARN boiler as a clean
and efficient way to heat any home.”

“We are writing to express or satisfaction with the GARN 200 Wood burner which we installed
in 2002. We previously used a Taylor T-750 which used twice as much wood (33 cords per
winter) and was a literal nightmare to keep clean. The creosote, soot and ash needed removal
each week and created disposal problems. Another problem with the Taylor was smoke.
Unfortunately, the prevailing winds are from the Northwest, and the boiler was located about
50 feet Northwest of the front door to our lodge. When guests were arriving, they received a
rather unsightly and unpleasant smell welcome which was an embarrassment to us. For the
last two winters we have not only heated the same tow building as before but have added a 24
x 36 firehouse with in-floor heating that contains the GARN boiler as well as all the wood
needed for the winter When the GARN reaches full burn we can’t see or smell smoke coming
from the chimney. After nearly tow years of operation and fifteen (15) cords of wood burned
per year, we have yet to clean the chimney. We check it occasionally and it seems to be as
clean as when it was installed.”

“We now have two years experience with the Model 2500 GARN. We have found that this unit
uses about one-half (1/2) the fuel for the amount of heat gained and most important it
produces much less smoke than our previous furnaces. Our two previous units were Dahl boil-
ers. Both rusted out in about 8 years; both produced a lot of smoke and both were very ineffi-
cient. We found that over half of the heat from the wood was going up the stack with a lot of
unburned gases (brown smoke). We burn about 40 cords per year (down from about 80 cords)
using 20 –30% MC oak chunk wood. We heat two houses, lumber dry kilns and several areas
within our sawmill. To summarize, we find the GARN boiler, well engineered, efficient and
clean.”
