3 3.1 EXECUTION QUALITY LUMBER A Lumber shall be of approved quality of the respective kinds required for the various parts of the work, well-seasoned, thoroughly dry and free from large, loose or unsound knots, saps, shakes or other imperfections impairing its strength durability or appearance. Framing lumber shall be of rough dimensions shown on Drawings. All exposed woodwork shall be smoothly dressed and well sand- papered.

SCHEDULE OF LUMBER Use the following wood as required in the Drawings: A Yacal (kiln-dried) 1 Wood plate and other lumber embedded or in contact with concrete, masonry or plaster work, except those specified as pressure-treated with copper Chromate Arsenic Salt Solution type-C.

Guijo (kiln-dried) 1 For all door jambs and other wall openings with wood frames.

Apitong (pressure-treated with Copper Chromate Arsenic Salt Solution - CCA-C) 1 All frame work for double plywood partitions vertical and horizontal studs 50 mm x 76 mm, etc, where required.

Tanguile/Narra (Kiln-Dried) 1 2 3 All interior frame work for counters, cabinets, closets, and shelvings. Doors, etc. (Verify door details) All base board and other moulding requirements.

3.3

TREATMENT OF LUMBER A B Lumber shall be well seasoned and kiln-dried to maximum moisture content of 15% except Yacal which shall not be more than 12%. Lumber shall be pressure-treated with Copper Chromate Arsenic Salt Solution or approved equal. Accompany lumber with certificate from lumber company, certifying treatment amount, moisture percentage after kiln-drying.

C 3.4 Surface in contact with masonry and concrete shall be coated with creosote.

PLYWOOD A Plywood Materials 1 2 All plywood shall be free from knots, splits and other open defects, with smooth surface suitable to receive finish. Marine, veneer plywood, 19 mm thick, three-ply Class C waterproofed for all bathrooms flushed door. Refer to Section 08 14 00 Wood Door & Frames.

WORKMANSHIP A. Rough carpentry shall be executed in best, substantial, workmanlike manner. Framing shall be erected true to line, levels and dimensions, squared, aligned, plumbed, well spiked and nailed, adequately braced and fitted, using mortise and tendon joints where practical. Millwork shall be accurately milled to details as approved in manner to allow free play of panels, avoid swelling, shrinkage, insure work remaining in place without warping, splitting, or opening of joints. Millwork shall not be installed until concrete and masonry work have been cured and will not release moisture harmful to woodwork.

HARDWARE INSTALLATION 5 Provide all necessary hardwares and fittings. Hardware shall be carefully fitted and securely attached. Apply hardware in neat, workmanlike manner. Locks shall be tested, knobs tightened, and necessary adjustments be made to put entire job in good working order.
