Career Choice
My career choice is Pediatrician.

Description of the Career

A pediatrician is a child's physician who provides preventive health maintenance for healthy children and medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill. They focus on babies, children, adolescents, from birth to teens in order to reduce infant and child mortality, control infectious disease, foster healthy lifestyles and to ease the difficulties of children and adolescents with chronic conditions.

Qualifications needed to become a Pediatrician

The first level of schooling for a pediatrician, after graduation of high school, includes pursuing a four year bachelor degree at an accredited university. During these four years, there will be key classes that are necessary to take in preparation for medical school, including science courses, as well as biochemistry classes required for all pre-med students. In addition to gaining a bachelors degree from an accredited university, a student is also required to apply and get into a medical school once their bachelors degree is completed. Once awarded entry into medical school, you are required to complete four more years of study in pediatrics, or medicine dealing with children and their diseases. Once you graduate from medical school, in pediatrics, as well as other medical fields, you are then required to complete a three-year residency or internship. Over the course of the three years, you will be given an increasing amount of responsibilities and learn how to properly interact with patients, you may also be required to put in 80 or more hours per week. This will allow you to get hands on training while being monitored by licensed and experienced doctors. After completing a residency, you are also required to obtain their medical license before practicing medicine. Once the medical license is obtained, the fun part of becoming a pediatrician begins. You can choose whether they would like to practice in a small office setting, a hospital, or even open their own private practice.

What motivated me to choose Pediatrician

The reason why I choose to become a pediatrician is because I enjoy taking care of children and I like to be round them. Being a pediatrician will give me the opportunity to help the people in my community take care of their loving children.

Goals for every year

My first goal for the next two years is to do well in my school work presently to ensure that I finish high school with all my passes.

After high school I will like to obtain my bachelors degree.

Go to medical school and specialize in Pediatrics.

How you plan to achieve each goal

I plan on achieving these goals by studying a lot, stay focus and breaking them up into smaller goals, making plans toward the smaller goals, and then following the plans one step at a time.

What are the possible hindrances to achieving your goal

The possible hindrances that may prevent me from achieving my goal are distraction from friends and financial problem to go through medical school, specializing in the medical field is very costly.
