Weekly Job Group - Job Group is available to any Work Prep client and meets every Tuesday at 10:00am. It provides participants with an opportunity to learn about the various areas of employment available to them. Each week, a guest speaker is invited to present information about their organization or institution, enabling clients to get a peek into the different occupations that they might pursue. The group also provides direct access to employers and educators. This is a drop-in group and clients are welcome to come to any and all group sessions. Computer Lab - Work Prep offers a computer lab that is available all day long for our clients. Drop in to work on your resume, complete an online job search, look for childcare, research education and training options, practice typing, or any other work-related task. A counsellor will always be available to assist you. SOC 1 Exploring Change - This interactive workshop is ideal for people who are interested in exploring change. Participants will learn about the Stages of Change model, have the opportunity to look at the pros and cons of change, and will leave with a clearer idea of what their next steps might be. SOC 2 Preparing for Action - This workshop is ideal for people who are ready to begin planning and preparing for employment or training. Participants will be offered the tools needed to manage stress and access supports. Participants will leave armed with confidence and new resources, ready to take action toward their employment or training goals. Cover Letters & References - This 2-hour workshop will benefit participants who are interested in learning tools to market themselves better. The goal of the workshop is to help participants understand the importance of creating and maintaining a professional and attractive cover letter. As well, clients will learn how to obtain and maintain good references. Participants will build their own basic cover letter, and contemplate what they need to be doing now to foster strong references for the future. This workshop will be held in the computer lab. Guest Speaker: Laura Dieter - This presentation will feature Laura Dieter sharing her journey of learning and maintaining her culture, while in the workforce at Fox Valley Counselling. Laura will go into detail about how connecting with her culture grounds her, and assists her to overcome obstacles. Laura will discuss how reclaiming her culture led her to strengthening her self-identity, and gave her the support she required to be successful in her career. Mapping a Bus Route - During this computer lab tutorial, clients will learn the basics of Google Maps and Regina Transits Trip Planner. Participa nts will also be introduced to the Google Streetview tool. This session is intended to provide participants with effective tools for obtaining accurate directions and choosing appropriate bus routes in order to plan travel and arrive on time for appointments. Job Search Tips & Tools - Learn job hunting tips and tools to get your job search moving in the right direction. This workshop includes information about the hidden job market, online job searching, appropriate follow-up, prepping for career fairs and more! Get Hired: Tips for Effective Interviewing - Learn the secrets to a successful interview. In this 2-hour workshop, participants will be briefed on the most important elements of conveying a professional image and making a lasting impression. The program will cover appropriate responses to common interview questions, the importance of research, preparation and practice, and some useful reminders to help you make the best of your interview experience. ColourSpectrums - This 3-hour workshop is presented to groups in an entertaining, interactive format. ColourSpectrums is used to identify an individual's unique combination of strengths and challenges. Participants will use the knowledge of their colour spectrum and personality style to learn how to interact more effectively with others, and assist them in increasing their communication skills, self esteem, and understanding of the workplace.

Guest Speaker: Deana Keewatin - This presentation will feature Deana Keewatin sharing her life journey. Deana will discuss the perception of an Aboriginal woman, and the life experiences and obstacles she has faced. She will go into detail into how these obstacles transformed her to become the successful woman she is today. Using a Flash Drive - During this computer lab tutorial, clients will learn the basics of flash drive use (aka: thumb drive, memory stick), including opening and saving documents, attaching files to email messages, and properly removing the device when finished. This session is intended for participants who either currently have or will be obtaining a flash drive, but are uncertain how to make use of it. Youth Employment Readiness Program - This nine-week program will provide participants with the opportunity to prepare for the world of work and learn the skills needed to keep a job. Participants will attend three weeks of in-class employability skills training, followed by six weeks of on the job training to identify personal skills and abilities, while building current work experience and references for their resume. This project includes 30 hours per week of paid training and work placement for the duration of the nine weeks. Eligible participants include those between the ages of 16-30.
