DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT .1 High voltage outdoor low profile vacuum switchgear shall consist of a lineup including loop feeder breakers, feeder breakers, metering sections, station power transformers to form a complete working assembly as indicated on the drawings and as herein described. .2 Each cubicle shall be provided with ventilation louvers and provisions for pad- locking (Locks shall be supplied by Owner). SUBMITTALS .1 Submit shop drawings and product data in accordance with Section l6050. .2 Indicate: .1 Floor anchoring method and foundation template. .2 Dimensioned cable entry and exit locations. .3 Dimensioned position and size of bus. .4 Overall length, height and depth. .5 Dimensioned layout of internal and front panel-mounted components. .6 Shipping sections and weights. .3 Submit coordination and short circuit study. MAINTENANCE DATA .1 Provide data for incorporation into Maintenance Manuals, as specified in Section 16050. MAINTENANCE MATERIALS .1 Provide a full set of maintenance parts as recommended by the manufacturer for five (5) years minimum of operation. SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL .1 Refer to Section 16050. STANDARDS .1 All equipment shall conform to applicable CSA, CEMA, NEMA, EEMAC and other industryaccepted standards in regard to design, construction, testing and performance, as well as any additional requirements of this specification. COORDINATION AND SHORT CIRCUIT STUDY .1 Manufacturer of power distribution equipment shall perform a distribution coordination and short circuit study and submit to Consultant. Include cost of study in base price. HIGH VOLTAGE DISTRIBUTION SWITCHGEAR (5KV CLASS) .1 High voltage switchgear shall be outdoor low profile pad mounted of metal enclosed construction mounted on a steel channel base. .2 High voltage switchgear shall meet the requirements of the local electrical inspection authority and Hydro Utility.

High voltage switchgear shall be rated 600 amperes, 4.8 kV max. design, 115 MVA, 60 kV B.I.L. All bus bars shall be tin plated F.R.E. copper. Bus bars in cable connection compartments shall be fully insulated. A 600 ampere continuous copper ground bus shall be provided. The switchgear shall be constructed of minimum 12 gauge zinc wipe coat rust resistant steel. All surfaces within six inches of base and all sheared and welded surfaces shall be prepped with one coat of zinc rich primer. Finish shall be 2 coats of U.V. resistant Urethane Enamel to minimum 1.5 mil dry coat thickness. Colour shall be ASA61 Grey. High voltage switchgear shall be front accessible only, low profile design with cell dimensions not to exceed 72" high, 24" wide and 36" deep. Construction shall be to CSA 4 standards with minimum 6" snow clearance below all outer doors. All doors or panels shall be of tamper proof construction. High voltage switchgear shall include provision for future extension, and shall be suitable for top or bottom cable entry. High voltage switchgear shall include all components necessary to form a complete working assembly including but not limited to the following: 600 ampere (draw-out) vacuum breakers manually operable with shunt trip. Site type: Toshiba VK16S-MLD/U16-LS. Live line indicators. Loop feed key interlocks. Compartment key interlocks. 50/51 protective relays in separate control section. Site type: Basler BEl-5l. Relaying accuracy current transformers as shown on the drawings. Station power transformers with primary and secondary fuse protection. Strip heaters and thermostats to maintain OC c/w associated wiring to feed heater. Three phase current transducers where indicated. Site type: Elkor P300-2. All 5KV cable to be terminated with compressed terminal end. S&C Fuses. Style SM5. 3 spares in door. c/w blown Fuse indicators. Spare cells shall be complete with all components and mounting hardware except breakers, transducers, protective relays and current transformers. Standard of acceptance - J.R. Stephenson Mfg. All others shown as alternate. Indoor switchgear shall be sprinkler proof.

LOAD INTERRUPTER SWITCHGEAR .1 Single cell low profile load interrupter rated 600 amp, 4.16 kV, 3 wire, 40KA.I.C Rms Symm. 60 kV bil. .2 Switchgear shall be constructed of minimum 11 gauge zinc wipe coat rust resistant steel with zinc rich primer and 2 coats Epoxy Enamel, colour shall be ASA61 grey. Switch shall be provided with visual indication to show contacts open. .3 Low profile design with internal barriered wire way to facilitate bottom cable entry and exit. Dimensions shall not exceed 60" high, 48" wide and 36" deep. .4 Internal hinged mesh screen. .5 Constructed to CSA4 Standards. .6 Load interrupter shall be quick make/quick break manually operated with external weatherproof handle. Interrupter shall be rated 600 amp 3 pole maximum 4.8 kV with 40 kA Rms Symm. fault closing. .7 Key interlocks shall prevent access to cell interior when interrupter is in closed position. .8 Provide suitable warning nameplates. .9 Provide hot dip galvanized mounting stand to match dimensions of existing adjacent stand in tunnel. Stand shall include trim plates and shall be finished to match switchgear.

Continuous copper ground bus. Standard of Acceptance - J.R. Stephenson. All other products shall be shown as alternate.

INSTALLATION .1 Set and secure cubicles in place, rigid, plumb and square on housekeeping pad. .2 Interconnect cubicles and closed coupled transformers with bus link connections supplied by manufacturer. .3 Check factory-made connections for mechanical security and electrical continuity. .4 Run grounding conductors as indicated on the drawings. .5 Connect outgoing and incoming cables complete with stress cones. .6 After finishing work, remove foreign material, including dust, before energizing switchgear. .7 Check fuse sizes and relay settings against shop drawings. .8 Install key interlocks to meet with Owners and Consultants approval. .9 Install nameplate labels. .10 Seal all openings in concrete pads to prevent entry of moisture. TESTS .1 Perform tests in accordance with Section 16050. .2 Operate load interrupter and circuit breakers closing and tripping mechanisms, to verify correct functioning. .3 Check insulation of switchgear assembly with 5000V megger. If values are not satisfactory, clean and dry switchgear and repeat tests until readings are acceptable to the Consultant, inspection authority and Hydro utility. .4 Check phase rotation of each feeder. .5 Energize switchgear and check for proper functioning of instruments and satisfactory phase balance of loads. .6 Provide the following on-site tests prior to energization of the switchgear by the Hydro utility: .1 Hi-pot test .2 Verification test .3 Ductor test of contacts .4 Control section test .5 Commissioning tests, as outlined in the C.E.A. Commissioning Guide for Electrical Apparatus. .7 Check for proper sequence of operation of mechanical and electrical interlocks. .8 Program respective relay settings in accordance with approved coordination study and test with approved relay tester. Submit test results with Manuals. EQUIPMENT IDENTIFICATION .1 Provide equipment identification in accordance with Section 16050. .2 Identify equipment with Size 5 nameplates. Line 1 Building Name & Transformer ID or Switch ID. Line 2 Fuse Size. Line 3 Wire Size.
