Experience
Research Assistant - Energy Harvesting and Mechatronics Lab, Stony Brook University
Railroad energy harvesting sponsored by Electric Truck LLC. and the US Department of Transportation. Designed and prototyped 3 railroad energy harvesters responsibilities include 3D CAD modeling in

Solidworks and Inventor, conceptual development, detailed design, materials selection, stress and lifecycle analysis, BOM production, circuits, prototyping, testing, and negotiating with vendors. Developed railroad energy harvesters which improve upon existing technologies increasing efficiency from 25% to 70% and power harvesting capabilities from 2 Watts up to 50 Watts. Utilized ANSYS to perform FEA structural analysis on shafts, hubs, and shaft collars. Prepared over 15 Powerpoint presentations for proposals, conferences, and design reviews. Mentored 2 undergraduate researchers during the summer.

Designer and Drafter - Advanced Optowave, Ronkonkoma, NY

Internship at a diode-pumped solid-state laser manufacturing company.

2008 2009

Designed 4 liquid cooling plates and 6 laser mounting bases resistive to undesired thermal expansion. Modeled and modified laser components and assemblies in 3D using Inventor and MDT. Drafted 100+ layouts for laser components experience in GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards. Increased drafting productivity by 20-40% by utilizing software macros to streamline procedures.

Student Researcher - Kaneko Higashimori Lab, Osaka University

Tactile surface differentiation research performed independently overseas. Funded by the NSF. Developed, built, and programmed robots which can differentiate tactile floor surfaces. Assembled sensors, actuators, electronics, and components onto a sheet metal vehicle. Programmed

2009

Parallax Stamp and Arduino Uno microcontrollers. Also developed skills in using accelerometers, DC and servo motors, ultrasonic, infrared, and light sensors, and PID algorithm. Analyzed acceleration data and differentiated 4 types of surfaces in time and frequency domains.

Research Assistance - Manufacturing and Automation Lab, Stony Brook University

Assistance to researcher Dylan Tsai in researching and modeling viscoelastic materials. Helped design and perform stress analysis experiments using a servo-hydraulic testing machine.
