Two dices can be thrown in 6x6=36 ways n(S)= 36 Let A denotes the event of getting even number S THE SUM Ii.e, 2,4,6,8,10 12 Hence A={( 1,1 ),(1,3 ) (1,5 ) (2,2 ) , (2,4 ) , (2,6 ), ( 4,4 ), (4,6 ), ( 4,2 ), (5,3 ),( 3,5 ),( 6,6 ), (6,4 ),.( 5,1 ), (3,1 ) ,( 6,2 ),( 3,3 ), (5,5 ) }, n(A)= 18 thus,required probability= P(A)= n(A)/n(S)= 18/36= 1/2 =50%

The two values are chosen from {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}. There are 6*3 = 18 ways to get two numbers of the same parity (the first can be any of the 6 numbers, and the second has to be 3 of the possible 6 which have the same parity), giving a total of 18 ways to get an even sum out of a possible of 6*6 = 36 outcomes (we don't have to consider if the first number is even or odd since there are an equal number of even/odd numbers to choose from in the second dice). So the probability is 1/2. Note that this would be different if we used, say, 7-sided dice since P(even)*P(even) + P(odd)*P(odd) = 3*3 + 4*4 = 25 out of a possible of 7*7 = 49 outcomes, giving a probability of 25/49 1/2.

Another way of looking at it is that both dice should have an odd number or both should have the even number. => required probability = probability of both to have an odd number + both to have the even number

0% 0 Votes David Regardless of the number of dice, your probability of getting an even number is always 50% or 1:2, since half of the outcomes are even whether you have 1 dice or a billion dice.
