Johnny Morant (b.1982)

With this new body of work by Johnny Morant we see an artist successfully balancing traditional values with a progressive vision. He manages a fine line between representation and suggestion as he captures atmospheric moments bathed in viscous light. Within this collection we can trace the artists travels and insights along the way. Warm weeks spent in Madrid and along the Mediterranean coast emerge as blazing sunlight filtering through palm fronds and deep shadows cast by the forms of fishing boats across the sand. Still life and interior subjects are tackled with the same inventive eye for detail. Johnny has had two successful solo exhibitions with The Tryon Gallery. this, his third show, will be the first contemporary one-man show since the merging of Rountree Fine Art and The Tryon Gallery in June 2013.
