The word PaSern, derives from the french term patron that means role model. A paSern, is an enIty that can be named and is represented by a set of measurable properIes, (Watanabe 1985). Micro-pa)erns are small paSerns used for scale or mulIlevel analysis and for analyzing the relaIonship between individuals and the environment in which they operate.

The use of micro-pa)erns allows us to separate the role of each component of a complex structure, in order to improve the knowledge of the situaIon to each of them. The micro-pa)erns modeling can be used to describe elements in the spaIal context of an image, such as borders, edges, lines, focus, corners and all that is typically obtained with convenIonal paSerns.

Micro-pa)erns are similar to conven2onal pa)erns, but the micro-pa)erns are also unique since built-so8ware point of view, due that they are mechanically recognizable, since each such micro-pa)ern can be expressed as a formal condi2on on the structure of a class.

On ngerprints recogniIon is apply the micro-pa)ern idenIcaIon stablishing over a binary image, the direcIons of lines located giving it orientaIon labels.

Another way to work with the micro-pa)erns contained in a ngerprint image, is considering the posiIon and quanIty of it.

The micro-pa)ern in one image, could be a element that represent an unit of recogniIon by itself.

A dierent way of take the micro-pa)erns is like Structural Syntac+c Approach, It is based on the descripIons of objects in terms of their own parts.

Micro-pa)ern Evolu2on is a conInued work about the idea of decomposing design paSerns into recurring elements has emerged from the context of forward and reverse engineering. Such elements are called fragments, moIfs, mini-paSerns, elemental design paSerns, sub-paSerns or micro-pa)erns. One of the main benets of decomposing design paSerns into subcomponents is the reducIon of errors over forward engineering .

Presents a catalog of 27 micro-pa)erns dened on Java classes and interfaces. The catalog captures a wide spectrum of common programming pracIces. Use of inheritance, immutability, data management, emulaIon of procedural-, modular-, and even funcIonal- programming paradigms with object oriented constructs. Together, the paSerns present a set of prototypes auer which a large porIon of all Java classes and interfaces are modeled. This project will focus on the strategies to dene a new method for micro-pa)ern recogniIon in the context of digital images. This method will be useful to solve some problems currently sIll on research in the AI area, as unsupervised recogniIon over satellite imagery.

14

Although paSern recogniIon (PR) has been used since the early sixIes, it is sIll one of the main tools in arIcial intelligence. The handling, registering and use of the informaIon obtained from micro-pa)erns is becoming a necessary aid in several areas, like in the nanotechnology eld. A micro-pa)ern is a small informaIon unit that by itself or together with other similar ones, can be used, where appropriate, to analyze and describe object characterisIcs.

PR has been used in many studies as well as in image classicaIon and all kinds of signals. All those studies have led to face idenIcaIon systems, as well as ngerprints, voice, and even human Issue recogniIon systems. Science sIll faces some limitaIons in the recogniIon area. Extended techniques and methods from micro-pa)ern recogniIon, could mean a signicant advance in image analysis.

16

PR is a widely used tool in some AI applicaIons such as face recogniIon. The analysis, study and applicaIon of micro-pa)erns will mean major methodological changes and an increase in computaIonal eciency.

17

The use micro-paSerns as more complex elements or those that require more thorough analysis, could represent a heavier work.

Another example is the localizaIon of smaller features or the idenIcaIon of specic elements in the aerial images.
