UNIT 14: THE PRESENTATION

This short unit provides you with information and guidance concerning the presentation that you will make during Week 8 of the course. After reading this unit, you should be able to prepare and present your research to fellow students and to your module tutor. EXPECTATION Your presentation is an important part of the module, as you will be assessed on it. This assessment carries 40% of the total marks. Before the course begins online, students will be organised into groups of four and assigned a tutor. In Week 8, you will be expected to present a summary of your research findings to the other students in your group in the form of a poster. They will give you feedback in the form of comments and ask you questions, as will the module tutor, and you will do the same for them. You should use the opportunities afforded by the presentation process to refine the final draft of your written project. Your 'poster' should consist of one side of A4, showing your results graphically. In addition, you should prepare a summary of your discussion, explanation and interpretation, of approximately 300 words. The poster and summary should be posted in the discussion area of the Module space on Sunspace as a Word attachment. *** Details of this process will be sent to you and examples of posters will be posted on Sunspace beforehand. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA The marks and assessment criteria for the presentation are as follows: PRESENTATION Each of the following 5 categories carries a maximum percentage of 15%. Students will be awarded 15% if they are excellent, 10% if they are average and 5% if their presentation is poor: presenting a clear 'poster' presenting a clear summary highlighting the main trends of the results interpreting the reasons for the results interpreting the consequences and implications of the results.
