Public education in Malaysia was divided into four major systems according to the languages chosen as the medium of instruction, which the four media of instruction corresponded to four sub-cultures within Malaysian society

MAJOR SYSTEM

There is only one major education system in Malaysia which was made by the Education ministry.

British adhere the policy of educating children to become farmers, fishermen, labours and lower rank government servants

EDUCATION POLICIES

-To provide a competent workforce to meet the needs of a growing nation. -To produce Malaysian citizens who are knowledgeable, God-fearing, well behaved, competent and harmonious.

Malay schooling in the Malay States consisted primarily of religious classes conducted by Muslim missionaries.

There are only colleges until UM was established in 1941. After that, there are still not many colleges and universities. Students enrolment is also not many and encouraged.

TERTIARY EDUCATION

A lot of colleges and universities established by the government and also private sector. Youngsters are also encouraged to get tertiary education.
