School : SMA Negeri 1 Rembang Subject : English Grade / Semester : X / 2 Competency Standard : Reading To understand the meaning of a simple short functional and essay in the form of narrative, descriptive, and news item in daily life context and to access science. Basic Competency : - To respond the meaning and rhetorical steps in a simple essay accurately, fluently and acceptably in daily life contexts and to access science in the form of narrative, descriptive, and news item texts. Indicators : To identify the meaning of words in the texts studied To identify the main topic / idea in the text. To identify the generic structure of the text To identify the source of the news item To identify the social function of the text To identify the language features of the texts Kind of Text : News items Skills : - Reading Time A lot : 4 x 45 minute I. Main Activities - Asking students to read the text carefully - Discussing new / difficult words in the texts - Asking students to answer the questions given - Giving the students some models of the texts will be discussed and asking them to read. - Asking students to analyze the text structure, the main topic / idea, the sources, and the language features of the text, the social. - Function as well c. Closing Activities - Asking the difficulties the students have - Concluding the learning materials - Asking students to find news item texts from other sources like magazine, newspaper, etc - Then, asking them to retell the news item in their own words / or to make a clipping of news items texts individually or in groups.
