Dear Pavo Baptist Church Family and Friends: September 1st begins a new church year. Though for many, the church year might mean little, it is the time set complementary to school calendars for the church to renew herself each year. As Christs Church, His Bride, we should use this time to renew or refresh ourselves in a variety of ways. First, as children advance from grade to grade, they advance from one class to another as they grow. In a maturing mode, we use this time to advance them from one Sunday School grade level to another where they are challenged to new Bible levels with each advancing year. Some churches also have age-graded Sunday Schools for adults. Tis true! Second, we refresh our leadership focus as new leaders are given the opportunity to use their talents for the Lord. Others who have served for a while, serve alongside the new leaders as workers, encouragers, and mentors. Some might even take a break from leading, or might change their ministry foci. We also reflect on where we have been as in yearly church conference we hear reports of our stewardship over the past year. We are then challenged to build on those Biblical foundations to walk closer to Christ in the new year through our own personal walk, and as the Bride of Christ. Finally, we renew our commitment to serve the Lord through our local church in order to accomplish the Great Commission Go ye therefore and teachbaptizingin the Name of the Father (Matthew 28:19 -20) and the Great Commandment Thou shalt love the Lord thy Godand thy neighbor as thyself. (Matthew 22:36 -40) I love my church! Dont you? I look forward to working alongside you as Christs Bride this new Church Year. Lets surrender ourselves anew to be more like our Master. In the Matchless Name of Jesus, Timothy C. VanLandingham
