He Never Thought About the Destination

A businessman went to the airport looking for a certain airplane he wanted to ride. After searching and hearing the pros and cons of different aircrafts, he found it, and bought a ticket at the gate. After boarding, he sat down and got excited about the choice of planes he had picked for his trip. The doors closed, and they began to taxi. Being tired, he dozed off to sleep before the stewardess had a chance to give her little speech. After awhile he awoke as they were sailing along, probably 30,000 feet above the ground. He completed some needed work when the captain made an announcement. He said, "Ladies and gentlemen, I hope you are enjoying your flight to Portland, Oregon, today. Sit back, relax, and we will do everything possible to make your trip more comfortable." The businessman panicked as he looked for a stewardess. Within a minute, or two, a lady stopped at his seat, and said, "What can I do for you, sir?" He said, "Maam, I don't want to go to Portland, Oregon. I want to go to Boston, Massachusetts." She said, "Well sir, I am so sorry, but Portland is the destination of those who get on this plane." "But I can't go to Portland, I have a business meeting in Boston tonight." "Sir," she asked, "Then why did you get on this airplane?" He said, "Because it sounded like the right plane to get on. I heard all the arguments for and against certain styles of airplanes, and this is the one that looked best, besides, I went to a conference recently, and they said that this is the style of airplane I should choose. It sounded right when they told me. He never thought about the destination! He made the mistake of not considering where the plane would take him when he chose it. He chose it because it was the popular plane to take, and it was what everyone else was doing. It wasn't a bad airplane, but it was taking him to the wrong destination. There are many passing fads and philosophies that are being promoted by well-respected people, but they take you to the wrong destination. Gods ways are the best ways; regardless of what the skeptics and experts are recommending. Jeremiah 6:16 reads, Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
