On the task given, we managed to classify the whole maintenance models into several groups based on practical application, literature evidence, orientation, type of action, and method. More explainantion will be described on these following points. a. Based on practical application This group is created because the maintenance models given, have different way to be applied. Some of the models are applied with holistic type, and the others is singular type. Holistic type is classified to models that are applied to the whole system. That means maintenance related to this group contain more integration, cross system function and the ability to look after for most common element (not specific). Some models that are classified to this model are Availability-based Maintenance and Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). And the second group is singular type. In singular type maintenance model, the field of maintenance focus is narrowed. They only concern into some small area, which still critical for the overall business. For example, the maintenance of buldozers bearing. It may be a tiny piece of component, but it required specific maintenance model to look after it. Some models that are classified to this model are Condition Monitoring and Predictive Condition Monitoring. But somehow, some models can be quite advance and very flexible, so they can be classified into both holistic and singular group. For example Breakdown Maintenance and Campaign Maintenance. b. Based on literature evidence We also create some groups based of their literature evidence. This classification is related to how the data to conduct a certain maintenance is gathered. The theoritical group consist of models that gather their data based on statistics. This models predict and planned maintenance with certain calculation, and time-series data. Some models that are classified to this model are E-Maintenance and Equipment Assesment Management. While the other one is empirical group. Empirical in short, mean something that you experienced, so the models in this group conduct or decide to do a maintenance only when they experience the failure. Some models that are classified to this model are Corrective Maintenance and Effectiveness-Centered Maintenance. However, just like the previous classification, due to the flexibility of their function, some models can classified into both theoritical and empirical group. For example Condition-Based Maintenance. c. Based on orientation In this classification, we devide the model into two different group such as time-based maintenance and condition-based. We choose this classification regarding to the variation and difference among the model in term of their orientation. The time-based group consist of maintenance models that conduct a maintenance based on schedule, without waiting the machine failure to be occured. The schedule it self could be annually, monthly, weekly, or even daily. Some models that are classified to this model are Predictive Maintenance and Scheduled Maintenance. Meanwhile, the condition-based group consist of maintenance models that conduct maintenance only when the failure or breakdown occur. Some models that are classified to this model are Run-to Destruction and Run-to Failure. d. Based on type of action The maintenance models can also divided into their type of action whether its proactive or reactive. The proactive group, listed with models that conduct a maintenance before the failure or breakdown happen, in order to prevent it. Some models that are classified to this

model are Value-driven Plan Maintenance and Proactive Maintenance. In the contrary, reactive group is listed with models that conduct a maintenance as a cure for machine failure or breakdown. The maintenance will mostly come up as a reparation. In other word, reactive maintenance model act the similar way to a cure medicine. Some models that are classified to this model are Run-To Failure and Outsourcing. e. Based on method The last classification is based on their method, whether its quantitaive or qualitative method. The quantitative maintenance model is more like objective decision. The maintenance decision is made through analysis about statictical data, mathematical models, and some hypothesis related to natural phenomenon. Some models that are classified to this model are Total Quality Maintenance and Productive Reliability. While the qualitative model is more like subjective decision. The maintenance decision is made through expert analysis, research results, and intuition. Some models that are classified to this model are Time-Based Management and Maintenance Management Metric. Somehow, we found that some models (mostly the advance or computerized one), can also classified into these two group. Because the flatform provide a cleft which both quantitative and qualitative can be combined. For example Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) At last, we found these taxonomy or classification is actually quite similar one to ea ch other. Its because the maintenance models listed on the paper mostly are the developement of some basic and popular (mostly applied) models. Just mention the Total Productive Maintenace (TPM), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), these models are the most popular one, and widely developed into some othe models listed on the paper.
