Beagle Specials Monthly

News on what your child is doing in art, music, and gym class.
Attention parents: please support your student by having them prepared to wear a t-shirt to specials classes (art, music, physical education) with your students first name written on the front. Specials t-shirts can be created at home. Please make sure your childs first name is written in large letters on the front. Specials teachers (art, music, and physical education) appreciate your help learning names! Physical Education (PE) We are looking forward to a great year in physical education this year at Beagle Elementary School! We will begin the year revisiting our behavior goals in PE; quiet voices when we are active, remember to always share, and only a maximum of medium speed (walking, fast walking, or jogging) when the group is at play. Students will have PE twice a week throughout the school year. We will be busy improving motor skill development, participating in cardiovascular activities, and working together learning about the importance of fitness. Please have students wear gym shoes as PE will take place in the gymnasium at Beagle. Beagle Elementary School is a wonderful place to go to school! Mr. Moore Physical Education mooren@glcomest.net

Greetings Beagle Families!

Art
This year our Beagle artists will be traveling the world, exploring art styles and traditions from many different and exciting cultures. We will study the masters, from abstract portraits in the style of Pablo Picasso to the pop art of Andy Warhol. Our students will develop skills in a huge range of materials, and learn critical thinking and problem solving skills throughout the year. We will gratefully accept donations of a few basic materials for use in the art room. Noncardboard egg cartons, small, clean plastic containers or tupperware, and old dish towels and wash cloths will all be put to good use.

Music:
Welcome Beagle students and parents! At this time of year, younger students will be singing, playing music games and moving. Third graders will play Orff instruments, fourth grader will begin playing recorders, fifth graders will begin rehearsing for Color Cruise & Island Festival and sixth graders will participate in a drum circle. I want to set the stage for a fun, productive and safe environment, where all students feel free to participate. COLOR CRUISE & ISLAND FESTIVAL: Fifth grades perform-Island Park Gazebo Stage Friday, October 11 11:00 am: Fizzell/Nye 2:00 pm: Densmore/Richey I look forward to a great with our Beagle students! Please take note of which weekday your child has art. We make every effort to learn to use all materials safely and neatly, but sometimes art still gets a little messy! Please keep this in mind when dressing for school on art days. Wearing a specials shirt with the childs name on it is recommended.
We are going to have a great year of art! Please contact me with any and all questions. Nathan Burns Art Education burnsn@glcomets.net
