ACADEMIC HONESTY

Each student must perform his/her own academic work. Plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty are considered serious offenses. ATTENDANCE POLICY Computer Networking Program requires in-depth study and analysis and cannot be taken casually. A student with heavy time constraints may have a difficult time completing his/her course work satisfactorily, particularly if this is the first course of this type ever taken. The vast majority of students will find that setting aside enough time to work on class assignments is imperative. It is also crucial that you attend class as well as diligently work on class assignments during the week since in class time is very limited. Students are expected to attend class regularly and stay the entire class period, unless otherwise excused. Late students are expected to be respectful of the class and avoid whispering in an attempt to figure out what is going on. Simply wait until there is a break or the class ends. If a student is absent for more than 3 classes the student is unlikely to master the course objectives and may be dropped from the class. Absent students are responsible for material covered in class. It is the student's responsibility to obtain lecture notes and homework assignments from a classmate or if available download it from the web site and to make up missed lab time outside of class time if absence is excused by the instructor. Students may have to work alone for make up labs. HOMEWORK Homework assignment will be given in-class or posted on the class Web page when applicable. It is the student's responsibility to check the site to determine if a homework assignment has been made. The due date of the assignment will be given with the assignment. MAKE-UP POLICY Students are expected to complete work on time. Students are responsible for all material covered during each class session. In bona fide emergency situations, the student should contact the Instructor to ask to make-up exams that were missed as well as provide the instructor with documentation from an official source (i.e., doctor, police department, etc.). Otherwise, the absence will be considered unexcused and the student may not be allowed to make-up exams. If a student is unable to attend class, they should make arrangements with the Instructor to submit homework/assignments early. Completion of all Labs is required to pass the class. All exams and quizzes will be announced in advance and appear on the syllabus. Other than for bona fide emergencies, no makeup exams\quizzes are given unless arrangements are made with the instructor at least one week before the exam\quiz. A missed exam\quiz receives a grade of zero. There is no make-up option for missed homework assignments. I know even the best students can have situations and emergencies in life. I am willing to consider these circumstances and will

attempt to work with genuine students who can show proof of the extraordinary circumstances. SPECIAL NEEDS I encourage students with disabilities, including "invisible" disabilities such as chronic diseases, learning, and psychological disabilities, to explain their needs and appropriate accommodations to me during my office hour. Please bring a verification of your disability from the Learning Skills or DSP&S offices and a counselor or specialists recommendations for accommodating your needs. MSDNAA Students taking credit course within the Business Department that are enrolled in Computer Science are entitled to receive certain Microsoft software free. You may contact your Instructor to find out the details of this program. WITHDRAWAL POLICY Students may drop this course and receive a W at any time prior to drop a class with W as indicated in the important dates at the beginning of the syllabus. Students will not be able to drop after this date and will get an F if they fail the class. Students are responsible for dropping the class and should not expect the faculty to do it. CISCO ONLINE ASSESSMENT This course requires the student to use the Cisco online curriculum and assessment. The student will be given a Cisco user ID and account to logon to the Academy website. Study materials, online assessments, and the Final exam are available on this website. The Cisco system keeps track of your scores on the assessments and exams. That is an independent system and separate from the MPC letter grade that you will get at the completion of the course. GRADING SCALE
