CONCLUSION Learning to write in either the first or subsequent is a complex process that takes time, effort and practice. There are two major areas to master: the mechanical aspect of writing the letters of the alphabet, learning spelling and grammatical rules; and the syntactic and organizational aspects of writing so that what is written is intelligible to others. When teaching writing skills, teachers need to decide which areas their students need to develop and improve. Writing skills should be taught systematically. Class work should not concentrate on the syntactic and organizational areas of writing until students are competent in the mechanical area.
