Monday 19th October, 11.30 to 12 noon Stephen Murdoch, VP and GM, Large Enterprise Business Unit, Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), Dell In his current role, Stephen Murdoch leads the delivery of solutions and services to EMEAs largest corporate IT users. The Large Enterprise Business Unit works closely with corporate customers to understand their challenges and provide tailored, scalable solutions to help drive improvements in their IT infrastructure. The team focuses on identifying and removing unnecessary and avoidable complexity, to help customers simplify IT and drive productivity and efficiency improvements in their IT infrastructure, maximising ROI with a platform that can scale. Prior to his current role, Stephen was responsible for defining, establishing and leading Dell Global Infrastructure Consulting Services. The teams primary focus was to create a technology-enabled consulting model to deliver fast, high-impact engagements. This disruptive model supports consultants with automated tools and analysis, helping to enable the rapid identification and resolution of IT infrastructure inefficiency. Previously Stephen has led Dell's overall services and enterprise systems business in EMEA. Stephen also has 17 years experience at IBM where, most recently, he was Vice President, Communications Sector responsible for the entire Telco, Media and Utilities Industry portfolio. During his IBM career, Stephen held a number of Global, EMEA and UK senior management roles with experience spanning software and services, storage, and enterprise systems. Stephen has a BSc (Hons) in Physics and is married with one daughter.

Tuesday 20th October 11.30 am to 12 noon Abdulla Al Awar, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai International Financial Centre Authority Abdulla Al Awar was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Authority in June, 2009. As CEO of the DIFC Authority, Abdulla oversees the management of the body of the DIFC charged with developing overall strategy and providing direction and supervision to the Centre. Prior to this he was the Managing Director of the DIFC Authority, where he was responsible for attracting financial institutions to operate in the DIFC as well as the creation of an ideal platform for non-financial & professional service providers that support the constant development of the financial sector. Before that, Abdulla held the position of Executive Director Ancillary Service Providers (ASPs) and Non-DFSA Regulated Organizations in Business Development Department, where he focussed on the development of critical mass of professional service providers that would assist the various financial institutions and provide them with the ideal platform of advisory support services needed to develop the financial service sector. Before joining DIFC, Abdulla worked as an Account Manager in Dubai Internet City, after which, he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager for Dubai Internet City and Knowledge Village. Abdulla has a diverse background, having been involved with a wide range of knowledge institutions in the Financial, ICT, Media, and Education sectors. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration majoring in Information Systems from the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA. He is also a member of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development since 2005.

Tuesday 20th October 11.30 am to 12 noon Malek Sultan Al Malek, Executive Director, Dubai Internet City Malek Sultan Al Malek is the Executive Director for Dubai Internet City (DIC), the largest managed ICT cluster in the Middle East. His leadership of the ICT cluster has been instrumental in making phenomenal milestones in terms of growth and expansion for Dubai Internet City. Al Maleks role looks at creating new project opportunities while developing existing ones that offer profitable outcomes for the business. With Maleks strength in business relationship management, he takes the lead in building a workforce nurturing talent and team spirit as well as developing young potential leaders with drive and ambition.As a corporate leader in charge of one of the most reputable ICT clusters, his role endeavours to reaffirm DICs position as an innovative concept within the IT industry offering a host of value-added services for the market. Wednesday 21st October, 11.30am to 12 noon Khalifa Al Shamsi, Vice President, Consumer Marketing, Etisalat Khalifa Al Shamsi is currently the Vice President of Marketing, at Etisalat-UAE. Responsible for driving Consumer Marketing activities in the UAE, Mr. Al Shamsi has been a key architect of various consumer centric initiatives at Etisalat that aim to provide maximum convenience, coverage and value to the customer. Leading from the forefront, Mr. Al Shamsi is also responsible for developing the holistic corporate strategy to address the customers needs as per their defined segments in term of Product & services offering, Business planning and Channel Management. Mr. Al Shamsi joined Etisalat (U.A.E) in 1993 as a GSM Mobile Network Engineer. He then moved to oversee the planning and development of Etisalat Mobile network & Services layers. In the last 16 years, Mr. Al Shamsi has been assigned many diverse responsibilities and has contributed significantly to develop the Etisalat brand in the Middle East and across the world. His thought leadership, business acumen and management prowess is well acknowledged amongst his peers in the industry.

Thursday 22nd October, 11.30 to 12 noon Abdulla Ali Al Madani, CEO Corporate Technical Support Services, Roads & Transport Authority Al Madani started his career in the Information Technology industry in 1990 at Dubai Municipality (DM), from where he progressed through a variety of roles, including the Head of PC unit then the Operations & Network Services Section. His core areas of responsibility included IT infrastructure planning and enhancement; management, performance review and support of more than 150 services to over 3000 internal users and over 2000 external users, with an annual budget exceeding 20 million dirham, and a team of over 40 IT professionals divided into 3 units; RFP's development and bids evaluation; and managing projects both directly and indirectly related to area of responsibility. He then pursued his career at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai, U.A.E, being selected as Director of Information Technology Department. Progressively within few months, in May 2006 he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer for Corporate Support Services Sector that is one of two headquarters sectors, providing services to all of the 6 RTA agencies and headquarters. He is a member of the Board, and directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer & Chairman of the Board, Matter Al Tayer. Abdulla's role was to executively direct and lead nine departments' directors with 34 managers and more than 500 employees; including Information Technology, Human Resources & Development, Administration, Unified Automated Fare Collection, Customer Services Centers, Marketing & Corporate Communication, Buildings & Facilities, Finance and Contracts & Purchasing. In addition, Legal Department was (for a period) reporting into the same sector, under Abdulla's executive leadership. Those nine departments are directly responsible for the achievement of 40% of RTA's Strategic Goals, 50% of RTA's DGEP methodologies, and more than 70 projects. Recently; in June 2009, Abdulla's was given another responsibility as Chief Executive Officer for Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, which focuses more into the technical departments including Information Technology, Unified Automated Fare Collection, Buildings & Facilities, Assets Management and Procurements. Al Madani holds a Bachelor of Management Information Systems from the University of Colorado, Denver, USA, and was selected by the Arabian Computer Magazine as one of the Top Ten IT Manager in the region for 2005. He was also selected and successfully completed the Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (First Batch 2005).

Thursday 22nd October, 11.30 to 12 noon Lt. Col. Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi , Assistant General Director in-charge of IT, Naturalization& Residency Administration, Dubai Lt. Col. Alrazooqi has received Bachelor of Science from Maryville University in Computer Science in the year 1997 from St. Louis Missouri, U.S.A and completed his Masters in Computer Resources and Information Management from USA in the year 1999.Alrazooqi has been working in many fields related to Information Technology Department. In her previous role, she led a global, award-winning marketing & strategy organization for IBM Software Group. Fast Company named Ms. Carter one of the most influential women in technology. She was also honored in 2008 and previously in 2005 with the AIT United Nations Member of the Year award for helping developing countries in the area of technology and is on the Board for Women in Technology. In addition, she holds 2 patent filings making her a unique blend of business and IT leadership. Ms. Carter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in math and computer science from Duke University and an MBA from Harvard, and is fluent in eight programming languages. She has received a patent for developing a methodology and tool to help customers create a technology deployment path in automation of their IT processes. He has had extensive leadership and management experience in a variety of areas including Project Management; Data Centre design; Business Continuity; Outsourcing and the implementation ITIL and CMMI methodologies. This broad remit has seen Ed work in many of Dell's offices worldwide. He returns to Europe having spent 3 years in South Asia where he lead Dell's Enterprise Brand Team in the region. He's current remit is that of EMEA Senior Marketing Manager & based in the UK he manages a team of Enterprise Field Product Experts based throughout Europe. Frank is Vice President of Sales Europe, Middle East, and Africa for NComputing and has a long history in leading customer relationship and sales initiatives for mid-size and Fortune 500 companies. Prior to NComputing, Frank was head of European sales for Websense, where he took on increasingly responsible roles in revitalizing customer programs that ultimately drove sales. Frank has held leadership roles at Telelogic, Continuus Software, Jacada and Texas Instruments. He holds a BSc in computer science from Brunel University.

Prior to joining Booz & Company, Dr. Khoury worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on a number of regional IT and information society initiatives, developing strategies and design requirements and has advised several governments in the 13

Middle East on IT modernization. Raymond is a frequent speaker at regional and international IT Seminars and Forums. He holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a dissertation in the field of applied Artificial Intelligence.

Business meets IT: Government 2.0- IT in the public sector Thursday 22nd October, 12 noon to 1.30 pm Dr. Hazem Abdulazim, CEO, ITIDA, Egypt Dr. Abdelazim was appointed as the CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) in 2007 after serving as the Minister senior advisor for the Technology Development Sector since May 2007. Born in 1960, Dr. Abdelazim graduated in Systems Engineering from Cairo University in 1982, with highest honors. He completed his MSc in Applied Mathematics in 1985, and then attained his PhD in Applied Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence in 1989, both also from Cairo University. In 2003, Dr Abdelazim completed his MBA from the Maastricht School of Management in The Netherlands with distinction. Dr. Abdelazims professional experience is a blend of Industry and Academia. He is currently an Associate Professor of Information Technology at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Cairo University. Within the world of academia, he has become renowned for his teaching and research in the fields of pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, Arabic NLP, and applications of Soft Computing in Financial Trading of Securities. He also holds a Professional Certificate for Technical Analysis of Stock Markets. In his earlier role as an Assistant Scientist, and Associate Scientist, for the IBM Research Center, Dr Abdelazim began research work during the period between 1986 -1992 in Arabic Natural Language Processing, where he is considered one of the pioneers in Arabic Optical Character Recognition technology and jointly filed a US Patent with IBM. He was awarded an Invention Achievement Award from IBM in 1991 given in recognition of his significant contribution to society. Between 1995 and 1996, Dr. Abdelazim headed a team of scientists and researchers in Sakhr Software, a leading research and development company in the Middle East. He was a Chief Scientist for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Development. From 1996 to 1997, he acted as Senior Project Coordinator for Internet Development leading the company into the Internet business. He was then appointed the position of Executive Director, which he held until 2000. His work involved supervising all research and development activities and heading the company to new business fronts. In 2001, Dr. Abdelazim was the entrepreneur and cofounder of IMAGiNET Software (now CIT MOBiDIV), one of the Worlds Top Players in Arabic Technologies on Microsoft Windows Mobile Devices. He has 14

been recognised for his achievements by being awarded the First Scientific Innovation Prize for Arab Scientists (1993), Presidents [Egypt] Excellence and encouragement Award (1992 and 1995), and Student of the Year Award and Directors Cup (2003) from the Maastricht School of Management. He is also continually contributing to technical journals and presenting papers at international conferences, such as the International Journal of Financial Management, in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing.

Business meets IT: Government 2.0- IT in the public sector Thursday 22nd October, 12 noon to 1.30 pm Wael Amin, President , ITWorx Since he cofounded ITWorx in 1994, Wael Amin has been responsible for steering the company through its remarkable growth and transformation into a regional software powerhouse. Even before graduating top of his undergraduate class from the American University in Cairo, Wael's entrepreneurial drive was in high gear as he cofounded software firm MicroLabs. They say experience is the best teacher, and by the time he cofounded ITWorx, Wael was a seasoned veteran, having worked in the development trenches of both Microlabs and Pie Practical Solutions. More than a software engineer, Wael was now a leader who led by example, and who knew the value of a productive and motivated creative team.Once at ITWorx, he quickly went to work creating a one-of-a-kind environment for software engineers with plenty of flex time, recreation areas and the occasional food fight. Wael is a frequent lecturer on Managing Professional Services and is a founding member of the Software Engineering Competence Center in Cairo. He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.

MEFX Tracks: Dealing with consolidation and benefitting from it Tuesday 20th October 12 noon to 1.00 pm Mohamed Al Ojaimi, Technology Solutions Director, Financial Service Industry, MEA, Oracle Mohamed Alojaimi is currently leading Oracles technology solution teams for the financial and banking sector for Middle East and Africa region. His team is responsible for architecting and promoting best practice in using Oracles core technology to solve business issues banks are facing today. In Oracle, Technology refers to the core products including the database, middleware, content management and Web 2.0, identity management and business intelligence products amongst others. Starting from June 2007 to May 2008, Mohamed has appointed to lead Oracle technology solutions for the banking sector in Bahrain and Oman. From December 2005 to May 2007, Mohamed was working as Senior Technology Marketing Manger responsible for technology solutions marketing activities across Middle East and Africa. Before that he was part of the presales team as Principle Product Manager in Oracle Server Technologies architecting Oracle core technologies solutions in the Middle East region. Mohamed holds a BSc in Computer Science from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, as well as MBA from Sheffield University, Mohammed was formerly a Senior Analyst Programmer with Batelco in Bahrain.

MEFX Tracks: Dealing with consolidation and benefitting from it Tuesday 20th October 12 noon to 1.00 pm Sanjay Uppal, Group Chief Financial Officer at Emirates NBD Emirates NBD is the financial services group formed with the merger of two of the largest banks in the Middle East, Emirates Bank & National Bank of Dubai, in October 2007. Emirates NBD is the largest Banking Group by assets in the Middle East with total assets in excess of US$ 75 bn. Sanjay is also a Director on the Board of NBD Investment Bank based at the Dubai International Financial Centre. Sanjay is an international banker with over 16 years of banking experience spanning markets across Asia and the Middle East. He joined Emirates Bank in 2005 as Group Chief Financial Officer and has since transformed the financial organisation and implemented international best practices to achieve a world class financial governance framework. Following the merger of Emirates Bank & NBD

in October 2007, Sanjay was appointed as the Group Chief Financial Officer for the merged Bank, Emirates NBD. From 1994 to 2005 Sanjay Uppal worked with Standard Chartered Bank in India, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, the Philippines and the UAE where he held key positions including Chief Financial Officer positions in Taiwan, Philippines & the UAE and Group Head of Strategy & Finance for the banks Wealth Management business. Sanjay holds a Master in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India. He also possesses a Bachelor degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and a Masters degree in Physics. Anton joined Microsoft Gulf in Dubai in March 2007 and has been a vocal spokesperson for the improvement of software development practices in the region.

Developer Day: Oracle Technology Showcase Thursday 22nd October 1.45 pm to 2.30 pm Ahmed Magdy, Shared Resources Presales Manager, Public Sector, Oracle MEA Ahmed graduated from the faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt and holds a Masters degree in Information Technology from the University of Nottingham, UK. For more than 9 years Ahmed has been working closely with different sectors in the regions IT market with a special focus on the public and government sector. He has been working for Oracle for more than 4 years and currently he's Oracle's MEA Public Sector solutions leader for Oracle Middleware.

Developer Day: Red Hat Technology Showcase Thursday 22nd October 2.30pm to 3.15 pm Fady Matar, JBoss Evangelist, Red Hat Fady comes from Lebanon has been a fan of open source since his college days, he has always been highly involved with Java technologies and Linux, Fady's main focus was on parallel programming and neural networks. With the internet boom, Fady shifted his focus towards Java and Open Source Java frameworks; he's been using different JBoss frameworks since the early days of JBoss and finally became a Red Hat employee in 2007.

Fady currently works on a management platform in Red Hat named JON. He's an active developer in the project and spends his time digging into different technologies and programming languages.

Developer Day: Java Thursday 22nd October 3.15pm to 4pm Chuk Munn Lee, Senior Staff Engineer/Technology Evangelist, SUN Microsystems Pte Ltd. Lee Chuk Munn is a Senior Staff Engineer/Technology Evangelist at Sun Microsystems. His main responsibilities include helping developers, customers and ISVs to understand and implement new and emerging technologies. As a software developer for more than 15, Chuk's has extensive working experience in the areas of the desktop applications, JavaEE applications, web services, scripting, P2P and games. Prior to joining the Technology Evangelism group, Chuk worked in Market Development Engineering, an ISV support organization within Sun. His key responsibilities include helping ISVs to design, prototype, develop, tune, size, and benchmark their applications. Chuk has been programming since 1982 and in the Java language since 1996, when he first joined Sun Microsystems in Hong Kong. He is also an avid gamer; he tirelessly promotes Java as a suitable game development platform. Chuk graduated in 1987 from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, where his favorite subject was compiler theory.

Bayeh brings 25 years of IT experience to executives and joined Gartner Executive Programs in 2008. Before joining Gartner, starting in 2003, Elias served as a group CIO for Audatex Systems based in Zurich where he led all aspects of IT, including development of a new product platform, and supporting roughly 57 countries on 4 continents and managing a diverse international team. Bayeh served as Vice President, Internet Product development at Automatic Data Processing, based in Roseland New jersey. At ADP, Bayeh led the development of a new internet payroll and HR platform which is today one of the largest Software as a service (SaaS) platforms in production today. Prior to Joining ADP in 2000, Bayeh worked for IBM at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina and led the development of several successful IBM products like the WebSphere Application Server and the IBM Internet Connection Secure Server. He was also the Chief Architect of IBMs Network Computing Framework (NCF) and served on the experts committees of Enterprise Java and coauthored several J2EE technologies like the Java Servlets and the Java Server Pages. 49

Bayeh holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Trueman University where he held the record as the youngest school graduate. Bayeh has also completed requirements for a degree in business management at Trueman, and completed executive training courses at Harvard Business School.

Thursday 22nd October 9-10 am Neetan Chopra, Vice President of IT Strategy and Architecture at Mercator the IT arm of Emirates Airline Neetan joined Mercator in 1995 and has been responsible for providing IT services and solutions to a wide variety of business units across Operations, Commercial & Planning, Destination and Leisure Management, Dnata Agencies and Group Services. Neetan was appointed Vice President for IT Strategy and Architecture in November 2006. He is currently responsible for ensuring that work undertaken by IT follows a well defined architecture, internationally recognised quality processes and information security policies. Before joining Mercator, Neetan worked as a management consultant with Accenture (then Andersen Consulting).
