Then he took me in examination room, checked my documents and asked as follow, Questions may not be in sequence, these are whatever I remembered, may missed few questions.. Magnetic Compass: What checks? Master asked you to prepare ship for Tentative swing? ISM: How you implement ISM on your ship? What are duties of Ship Safety Officer? Master Over riding Authority? Give example.. How you prepare your vessel for Cargo ship safety Equipment Certificate? How you test Isolation valve? How do you test your life boat? Five yearly Load test? (MSN 1803) What is CSR? (Continuous Synopsis record)..how to update? Risk Assessment procedure? AB got seriously injured during work, what immediate actions will you perform (First Aid, Medical reporting procedure etc..) Now Medical situation under control who to report this incident first? (MAIB) How to report MAIB (Telephone, Fax, Internet, Reporting form, several possible ways to report MAIB) As chief officer after incident what will you do? (Check what causes this accident to happen, work permit issued or not, what hazard caused this, Raise NC, review Risk assessment for this activity, inform company, Circulate on other company vessels etc) Marpol: How this effects you, Annex 5 Full? ISPS: When to exchange Declaration of Security? Ship security officer responsibilities? Cargo work? Ship arrived in Port for loading Coal? What all hazards? Procedure/ Preparation? (Shipper TML certificate, can test etc if necessary) On passage what tests/ precaution (standard answer) What standing instruction from chief officer to Duty officer at port? Loading IMDG container, you are in cabin, duty officer called you on walkie talkie that container just loaded on board is spilling? (SPARRC)

Crew updated you that he can see smoke now from same container? (Fire fighting etc) What information is contain in Fire wallet for shore Emergency authorities? How company response team works? (Examiner was after Company emergency response team, what information vessel need to provide and what help they can provide to their vessels when they are in trouble) MLC: What it is all about? What you will find in Seafarer Employment agreement? Can Agent signed on behalf of Ship's owner and how? You joining new ship what would you like to see on ship in terms of MLC Title 3? Colreg: what is your understanding on Rule 6? What rule applies in Restricted Visibility? What other rules other than Rule 19 applies? What is Scanty Radar information? You are a Master on bridge and OOW was about to take action on bases of incomplete Radar plot..Action? Situations: In TSS: What vessels allowed with in separation zone? 1. Take sequence of compass bearing to determine if Risk of Collision exist or not: 2. Sound 5 short and rapid ballast and call Master. 3. One Short, Bold Alteration of course to STBD.
