Serving the Kingdom

September 1, 1981

Dear Friends in Christ:

We have seen slides, read letters, heard reports and now we have seen it for our

selves.

Yes, we have had the opportunity to visit the mission work in Zimbabwe.

What a thrill to meet Africans In the bush country who know Jesus as Saviour and

Lord. They are a happy people who truly know what it means to trust in God. Living out in the bush, many miles from everything, they must trust that God will provide. Provide shelter, food and safe keeping. That the rain and sun come to make the crop grow.
A simple life, so different from our fast pace of living in the United States. Chidamoyo is slowly being restored. The Africans are so anxious for the return of medical help. Even the simplest illness can be tragic when one must walk 50 miles through the bush for help.

The missionaries trained the African staff well. Many stayed in the mission stations during the war. They continue to worship and teach. For that reason, many of the
stations will reopen. Christianity will continue to spread in Zimbabwe.
Bill, Reba, David and Julie were marvelous hosts and tried to show us as much as

possible.

We flew with Bill on several of his mission trips, and felt we could under

stand Bill's love for this work as we went with him.

We attended a missionary meeting in Sinoia, and met most of the C.A.M. missionaries. We heard about their struggles and their victories. Many are working on very limited funds, but are still willing to work for Christ.

We worshipped one Sunday in the African service at Mashoko and toured the hospital
there.

A great deal has been accomplished, but there are still miles of bush country to be reached for Jesus. Without pilots like Bill it would take so much longer to do the work. When we say bush country, that's exactly what we mean. No modern roadways excepting in
the main cities.

We look forward to Bill and Reba's return in December for their well deserved

furlough.

We praise God for our safe journey to Zimbabwe and we are grateful for those who made it possible. If each forwarding agent were able to visit the field it would be marvelous. It would give them a much greater understanding of the work and problems
involved.

We want to thank Bill and Reba for asking us to serve in this capacity during the

past ten years. Our lives have truly been blest in our relationship with them. Also, we have made many friends with the contributors. We thank each of you for your friendly notes and the encouragement you have given to us. May God bless each one of you for the love you have shown to Zimbabwe and for your part in bringing Christ to the
bush country.
In His Service,

TiAiS.Ki

classes now.

The rains are quite heavy this year, and this makes for some interesting flights and landings. There is often mud and tall grass to contend with at clinic airstrips, after playing hide-and-seek with low clouds and rain. In most places the people try to keep the grass cut. In others, I have had to help them in order to clear a way for a safe take-off. Many people come for the needed medicine. The fewest patients in any
clinic we have attended since we reopened them was 115. Over 600 were treated at the largest clinic. It is always uplifting to hear the gospel proclaimed and God's praises sung at those clinics even though the words may sound different in Shona or Tonga.
