Shear bond strength tests (SBST) are heavily criticized due to inhomogeneous stress distribution that invalidate the final result. The objective was to compare the bond strength obtained by a new SBST with the conventional SBST to verify, also using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), if changing specimen geometry causes more homogeneous SD.

CONCLUSION
New design
The results indicated that the new SBTS is promising for BS evaluation, since it showed similar BS and better SD compared to the conventional test. Further improvements to the new SBTS are necessary to overcome the occurrence of cohesive failure.
