10TH ANNIVERSARY OF BELLTHORPE ENVIRONMENTAL RESERVE RESTORATION


Bellthorpe Progress Association Environmental Group are congratulated on their efforts over the past 10 years to restore the reserve at the corner of Bellthorpe Range Road. The goal has been to restore the reserve to its former glory by a continued weed eradication program which commenced with assistance through funding from the Commonwealth Governments Natural Heritage Trust Scheme. There will be a celebration to commemorate their achievements on Saturday 2nd February 2013 commencing at 8am. Invitation to participate is extended to all visitors, residents and supporters of this project and will include a photo display of progress, discussions and morning tea. HORSE MANAGEMENT ON SMALL PROPERTIES


Horse Nutrition and Pasture Management Workshop Saturday 16th February, 2013, 9am - 2pm, Woodford (venue to be confirmed) This is perfect for those wanting to explore horse behavior, horse nutrition and pasture management, for healthier horses and a more sustainable property. Presenter: Mariette van den Berg. Mariette is an animal scientist & nutritionist with over 6 years research experience in equine nutrition and the founder of MB Equine Services. A second workshop will be offered later in February/March, which will assist horse property owners to design a management plan. 2013 Coles Junior Landcare School Garden Grant now open


Since 2008 Coles has been providing School Garden Grants of up to $1,000 to schools and youth groups to help create gardens in their grounds or community, such as bush tucker gardens, water wise gardens or veggie gardens. These programs encourage students to learn about the environment through outdoor learning and interaction in developing their own school gardens.

Everyones Environment Grants Announced


Yesterday the Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection Andrew Powell announced the final recipients of the first round of Everyones Environment grants with a further 29 projects receiving more than $1.6 million across the state. 10 of the successful applicants are found right here in South East Queensland.
