POWER SUPPLY PHILOSOPHY:

POWER SOURCE:

PCBL shall avail Power supply from two sources.

CO-GENERATION POWER PLANT (CPP)

The plant shall have Turbo Generator (TG), 22.5 MVA, 11kV, 50Hz, 0.8PF, located at
TG Building, complete with all TG auxiliaries.

66/11 kV OUTDOOR SWITCH YARD

SYSTEM PARTICULARS:

Three Phase Symmetrical fault level : 31.5kA for 3 Sec at 66 kV

The plant shall avail 66 kV Power supply from Gujarat Electricity Transmission
Company (GETCO), Mokha substation located approx. 2.5 to 3 Km from the plant
location through 66 kV overhead transmission line.

The 66 kV overhead transmission line is received at 66 kV, 16/20 MVA outdoor


switchyard at PCBL-MUNDRA.

66 kV Grid supply received at Outdoor switchyard is stepped down to 11 kV through


16/20 MVA (ONAN / ONAF) Power transformer-1 & shall feed 11 kV indoor
Switchboard-1 located in Switchyard Control room.

During normal operation, Turbo Generator (TG) shall supply the entire process load
& surplus power generated shall be exported to grid through Power transformer.

Upon failure of Turbo Generator (TG), power to entire process plant shall be availed
from Gujarat Electricity Transmission Company (GETCO) Mokha substation.
DG SET
In case of failure of TG & Grid supply, DG set (750 kVA, 415 V, 50 Hz, 0.8pf) located
at DG room shall feed power to all essential Emergency loads.

POWER DISTRIBUTION PHILOSOPHY


PRIMARY DISTRIBUTION

SYSTEM PARTICULARS:

Three Phase Symmetrical Fault Level : 40 kA for 1 Sec.

11kV SWITCHBOARD – 1

11 kV Switchboard-1 shall have an incomer from 66/11 kV Power Transformer


located in the switchyard. 11 kV Switch board-1 shall feed power to 11 kV switch
board-2 located in the TG building.

11kV SWITCHBOARD – 2

11 kV Switch board-2 located in TG Building shall feed power to 11 kV switch board-


3, Boiler feed pumps (2 nos.) and 2000 kVA, 11/0.433 kV TG auxiliary transformer. It
also has a bus coupler with lineup of required number of incoming/outgoing Vacuum
Circuit Breaker (VCB) panels. The Power generated by TG is fed to TG incomer
panel through a bus duct.
11kV SWITCHBOARD – 3

11 kV Switchboard-3, located at Process Substation, shall have an incomer, fed from


11 kV Switchboard-2 & a bus coupler with lineup of required number of
incoming/outgoing VCB panels. The Incomer & bus bars shall be adequately sized
for future expansion.

11 kV Switchboard-3 shall feed power to 3 nos. 11/0.72 kV, 1250 kVA Distribution
transformer which are feeding 3 nos. of Process Air Blowers through corresponding
VFDs (690 V, 550 kW) and 2 nos. of 11/0.433 kV, 3150 kVA Distribution transformers
which are feeding 2 respective bus sections i.e. Bus-A and Bus-C of PMCC-102
through Cu bus duct.

SECONDARY DISTRIBUTION:

PMCC-101

This LV Switchboard consists of an incomer from 11 kV Switchboard-2 through TG


Auxiliary transformer via Aluminium bus duct (3200 A). Further it feeds TG MCC,
Boiler MCC, PFIC-01, VFD-01 & VFD-02 (both 415 V, 90 kW) and various other
motors.

PMCC-102

LV Switchboard shall consist of three incomers & two bus couplers. Incomer -1 & 2
shall be fed from 2 nos. of 11/0.433 kV Distribution transformers & Incomer-3 shall be
fed from Diesel generator (750 kVA, 0.415 kV, 50Hz, 0.8PF) set, which is Bus
section-B. During normal operation Incomer -1, which is Bus section-A & Incomer-2,
which is Bus section-B & buscoupler-1 shall be in closed condition.

This LV Switchboard further feeds MCC-103, MCC-104, PFIC-02, PFIC-03, MLDB,


ELDB and PDB etc.
STATION BATTERIES AND BATERY CHARGER

SYSTEM PARTICULARS:

Power supply : 415V±10%; 50Hz±3 %; 3phase; 4 wire


Control Voltage : 230 V; 50 Hz; 1Ph; 2 W derive from
phase and neutral of PMCC
3-Phase symmetrical fault level : 65 KA for 1 sec at 415 Volts.
Grounding : Solidly grounded.

APPLICATION
Battery shall be Low maintenance valve regulated pocket plate Nickel Cadmium
type, suitable for 110V DC. This battery is required to supply 110 V, DC supply to,
Relay and Control Panel, HV Switchboard and PMCC’s in the plant.

The battery charger shall have two separate circuits - Float charger and Float cum
Boost charger. If AC station supply fails, FC and FCBC go out of service. Then
battery takes over and supplies the emergency load without any interruption.

UPS CONFIGURATION & OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT

For UPS-1 & 2 having this configuration, two sets of UPS are provided. Under normal
conditions, when AC main power is available, both the UPS shall operate in stand-alone
mode sharing the load. When a disturbance / fault occurs in UPS-1 or 2 inverter, it shall
automatically get disconnected and entire load of UPS-1 or 2 along with load of the other
UPS shall be fed from healthy UPS system. However, due to failure of even healthy UPS
Inverter, load shall get transferred to bypass automatically on-line. In case of AC input power
failure or battery charger failure, the battery feeds the inverters without any interruption. The
rectifiers for each UPS is designed for simultaneously feeding complete inverter load and
float / boost charging of the battery to its rated capacity within 12 hrs. Each rectifier is
equipped with automatic ‘On Line’ as well as manual charging facility.

The transfer time of one UPS system to another UPS system shall be 1-2 milliseconds. In
case of both inverters of UPS-1 & 2 fail, the complete load shall be transferred to stabilized
bypass supply through the static switches. Re-transfer of load from stabilized bypass supply
to inverter shall be automatic.

STORAGE BATTERIES:

Storage Battery provides the UPS with a stored energy source. The battery will be of heavy-
duty industrial type designed for standby power service. The AH capacity will be sufficient to
supply direct current to inverter of UPS at 100% rated load for emergency period of sixty
(60) minutes. Batteries shall be pre charged and shall be housed in sheet steel enclosure.
The UPS module shall be installed with a circuit breaker that enables load connection &
disconnection of the battery, whenever necessary. All battery terminals shall be shrouded.
