1. E-FILING REGISTRATION Income Tax Department has introduced e-Filing of Income Tax Returns minimizing Manual Filing of returns. Web Address - https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in New to e-Filing > Select Register Yourself

Select the Assessee Type > Continue

Enter the below required details PAN Number * Mandatory, should be valid PAN. Surname * Mandatory, should be as per the PAN details. First Name Not mandatory, should be as per the PAN details. Middle Name - Not mandatory, should be as per the PAN details. Date of Birth * Mandatory, should be as per the PAN details. Email ID * - Mandatory, should be valid E-mail ID. Mobile Number * Mandatory. Enter the required details to complete the registration.

2. REGISTRATION - LINK ACTIVATION After submitting the request for registration, Taxpayer would receive a link to His / Her email id for activating the user ID (PAN would be the User ID) from DONOTREPLY@incometaxindia.gov.in. Click on the link to activate the registration / OR Copy and paste the Link in the Internet portal address bar.

Below is a sample mail for link activation

If the taxpayer is unable to activate the link, please send the below details to validate@incometaxindia.gov.in email ID.(Reply would be received from DONOTREPLY@incometaxindia.gov.in) PAN Taxpayer Name Date of Birth / Date of Incorportation Fathers Name Mailing Address as per PAN Database

After activation the taxpayer can login with User ID (PAN) and password in https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

3. PASSWORD RESET Taxpayer can reset the password to login in e-Filing website. Options are available in the portal enabling easy reset of password. Taxpayer is requested to launch https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in website. Main Screen > Click Login Here

Click Forgot Password?

Enter the below : PAN Captcha Code (As specified in the image)

Click Continue

Select any of the options to reset the password online > Click Submit

Option 1 Answer Secret Question Enter Date of Birth / Incorporation Select the Secret Question Enter the answer Click Submit

Enter the new password and confirm Password > Click Submit

Option 2 Upload Digital Signature Certificate Select Upload using .pfx file or upload using USB token Click Submit

Enter the new password and confirm Password > Click Submit

Option 3 Enter e-Filed Acknowledgement number and bank account number. Select the Assessment Year Enter the Acknowledgement number Enter Bank Account Number Click Submit

Enter the new password and confirm Password > Click Submit

If the taxpayer is unable to reset the password, please send a email to validate@incometaxindia.gov.in with the below details. (Reply would be received from DONOTREPLY@incometaxindia.gov.in) PAN Taxpayer Name Date of Birth / Date of Incorportation Fathers Name Mailing Address

4. VIEW MY DETAILS Taxpayers can view the contact details which have been registered in e-Filing Portal. After Login with User Id and Password in https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in website Main Screen Click Profile Settings > View My Profile

The Taxpayer Profile would have the below contents Personal Details Contact Details Address Details Other Details

5. UPDATE CONTACT DETAILS Taxpayers can update the contact details which are registered in e-Filing website. After Login with User Id and Password in https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in website Main Screen Click Profile Settings > Update Contact Details

The Taxpayer Can update the below details Contact Details Address details

6. QUICK FILING OF ITR 1 ONLINE Taxpayers can file returns online, this option has been enabled for quick filing of ITR-1 forms. Taxpayer are requested to login with the User ID and password in e-Filing website https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in Main Screen Select e-File > Prepare and Submit Online

To Submit ITR-1 online Enter All mandatory fields > Click Submit

Enter the required details Personal Information Income Details TDS Taxes Paid and Verification 80G After updating all the details Click Submit. Note : All the personal information, TDS,Advance Tax and self assesment tax would be auto filled and is editable other than PAN and DOB. Taxpayers are requested to validate the details prior submission. INCOME TAX RETURNS FORMS DOWNLOADS Taxpayers can download the forms for offline returns submission. ITR 1, 2, 3, 4, 4S, 5, & 6 Return Forms are available. Taxpayers can download the Forms either in pre-Login or post login in the e-filing website Main Screen Downloads > Click Income Tax return Forms

Select the Form to download.

7. REFUND / DEMAND STATUS Taxpayers can view the Refund and Demand status after logging with the User ID and Password. Main Screen > My Account > Click Refund/Demand Status

Enter the assessment year > Captcha Code > Click Submit

8. ITRV RECEIPT STATUS Taxpayers can view the ITR-V Receipt Status before login with their user Ids Main Screen > Services > Click ITR-V Receipt Status

Enter PAN, Assessment Year and Captcha Code > Click Submit

Taxpayer can view the status of the ITR-V Status

9. REQUEST FOR INTIMATION u/s 143(1) / 154 Taxpayers can Request for Intimation u/s 143(1) / 154 after logging with the User ID and Password. Main Screen > My Account > Click Request for Intimation u/s 143(1) / 154

Taxpayer to enter the required fields and click Submit.

10. RECTIFICATION REQUEST Taxpayers can Request for Rectification after logging with the User ID and Password. Main Screen > My Account > Click Rectificaiton Request

Taxpayers are enabled with below options in Rectification Request Type 1) Taxpayer is correcting the data for Tax Credit Mismatch only 2) Taxpayer is correcting the data in rectification 3) No further Data Correction required Reprocess the case

11. REQUEST FOR REFUND RE-ISSUE Taxpayers can Request for Refund Re-issue after logging with the User ID and Password. Main Screen > My Account > Click Refund Re-issue Request

Enter Assessment Year,CPC Communication Reference Number (As per Intimation received),Refund Sequence Number, DOB, Captcha Code and Click Validate

12. RECTIFICATION STATUS Taxpayers can View the status of Rectification after logging with the User ID and Password. Main Screen > My Account > Click Rectification Status

Enter Assessment Year , Captcha Code and Click Submit to view the status

13. REGISTER AS LEGAL HEIR A Legal Heir can file Income Tax Return, View Status of Income Tax Return, ITR-V Acknowledgment and other filing status in respect of the Income Tax Return of the deceased person for the e-Filed Assessment Year Main Screen > My Account > Click Register as Legal Heir

Taxpayers have to fill mandatory details and have to upload Required Documents in ZIP format only.

Required Documents: Copy of the Death Certificate Copy of PAN card of the deceased Self attested PAN card copy Legal Heir certificate
