Sat.. March 6 The runningrace thatwas goingon at Oak Mountain made it a little hard to find everyonefor this work day. Bill Garrett waswith us doingrehabon his new knee (he calledthe rehab program DWYDD, Do Whatever YouDo Daily). After we all gatheredamong the runners, we proceededwith our plan to drain many muddyholes. We alsotriedto findthe bridge with the missingboard, but we were unsuccessful. The decision has been made to number all the bridges.Numbering of the bridges will be another workday. The workday resulted in improved drainage at several wet areas. (Thank you Joe (Lucy), BillG., Bill J., Amy(Sd),Mickie, and Hugh for their helpwith the repairing of our I trails!! And David P. for his suggestionson areas needing repair while passing by) Your effortsareappreciate by all riders.

numbering. The markings are very Sparse, and at each segment entrance. The lower section of Number 7 (and connection to 3) follows the lake perimeter and is very picturesque. It is not noted as a biking trail, but the park does not limit the trail usage. It is extremely technical. The 7-8 shared section going down to the dam has very loose gravel with significant grade. The return up to the remainder of the trail is quite a climb. The upper 7-8 section and all remaining trail is fast smooth single track. The initial 5-8 shared segment is a short gravel access road and is the only of the total double track on the course. It accountsfor about 10o/o length. The Ride: Trail accessis best made at the upper parking area of the park. Several other parking areas exist and may be used to access the trail. At the upper location, a nice grassy field is present. The trailhead for the 7-8 split is beside the restroom building. One may make a quick ride down to the dam and waterfall, return onto the 7-8 upper section to the road crossing the old logging road is... nearthe pavilion. At the road crossing, (continued on next page)

The Place: Chewacla State Park Located in Auburn, AL off of Highway 29. Several pavilions and a grassy area are from also prime locations. The park can be quickly accessed I-85 at the exit just south of Auburn (exit 51) and at (334) 887-5621. Signs direct you to the parlg and it is less than three miles to the entrance.A day use fee of one dollar applies, and one can obtain a map for free at the gate (marked up here).
