LESSON PLAN : PERCEPTION

CLASS OBJECTIVES 1. 2. 3. 4. To explain the fucntions of perception. To enumerate the Gestalt Principles of Organization. To be bale to determine errors in perception. To identify the four extrasensory perceptions.

GENERAL GOAL The goal of the discussion is to let the students understand how important perception is and how it significantly affects our functioning and well-being. MOTIVATION (JUMBLED LETTERS ACTIVITY) 1. Divide the class into two groups. 2. Each group will receive a set of letters. 3. The student teacher will give the definition and as soon as it is given, the students will form the letters into a single word. 4. The first group to form the correct word wins.

INTRODUCTION OF THE LESSON 1. Gain students attention by asking them questions. This may include What do you think is perception? 2. Tell the students what they are going to learn. Discussions on Perception will include its functions, attributes, errors and extrasensory perceptions. 3. Make them use their knowledge. Let them know that at the end of the discussion, a test will be given to evaluate what the student learned during the discussions.

PROCEDURES 1. The first three parts of the discussion (including Perception, Functions, and Attributes) will be discussed by the student teacher. 2. Some students will be given pictures while others will be given words to match the pictures and paste on the board. This will be applied to both Gestalt Principles of Organization and Errors in Perception discussion to activate class participation. 3. Extrasensory perceptions will then be discussed by the teacher.

COGNITIVE INPUT At the end of the discussion, a 30-item quiz will be given to the students.

EVALUATION The students will be given a 30-item quiz. Questions 1. The process of interpreting sensations to make them significant or meaningful. 2-3. Functions of Perception 4-8. Gestalt Principles of Organization 9. Stimuli that resemble one another tend to be grouped together.

10. Tendency to see things as figures against ground. 11-12. Errors in Perception 12-16. Types of Hallucinations 17-20. Four Extrasensory perceptions 21. It is the foreknowledge of a situation or event. 22. It refers to the communication of one mind with another. 23. It is the ability to discern objects or events concealed from sight. 24. Refers to the hypothesized power of the will to control physical force. 26-30. ESSAY (6pts) How do you think does perception affect a persons everyday functioning and well-being?
