Using Isopentane, 3-Methyl-2-Butyl Nitrate, and Aerosol Ratios to Identify the Influence of Biomass Burning

Dominic Cartina Western Illinois University Faculty: Don Blake Mentor: Josette Marrero

Markers

indicate where WAS cans were taken while flying through the biomass burning plume and their respected level of CO.

Identify

and confirm which WAS cans can be directly

associated with the biomass burning plume

Looking at specific ratios and tracers in order to isolate the

cans of interest from the collection of over 300 samples

Unable to identify any additional biomass burning related cans Discovered a biomass burning signature for future reference Future work
Include some meteorology in order to determine the age of the

plume
Look at the same ratios and compounds and compare them to

different aged plumes
