The Definition of Au Pair


The word "Au Pair" is a French term, which means "on par" or "equal to", denoting living on an equal basis in a reciprocal, caring relationship between the host family and the children. An au pair will typically be a young woman and sometimes a young man from a foreign country who chooses to help look after the children of a host family and provide light household chores. The au pair is given free room and board and is typically paid a weekly "pocket-money" salary. Au pairs generally stay with their host family for three months, six months or one year. It is a culture exchange program.

Basic Requirements to be an au pair


You should be between 18 and 26 years with clear English. You should be single, unmarried and should have no children of your own You should be ready to stay in Qingdao China for 3 months/6 months You should have some experience with children, like having watched your neighbors kids or having completed an internship in a nursery school etc. You should have a High School Diploma at least(The university students are preferable) You should physically and mentally be capable of performing the tasks of an Au Pair You should have a clean criminal record You should be willing to integrate into a Qingdao China host family and adapt to live and customs in Qingdao China easily You have to cover your travel expenses to and from Qingdao China yourself Stay for minimus of 3 months/6 months on F visa

Tasks of the Au Pair


The main task of an Au Pair is caring for the host familys children for about 6 hours a day or 30 hours a week. This may include taking them to and from kindergarten, school or activities, playing with them inside and outside the house, doing arts and crafts or other fun projects, helping them with homework and/or taking them to bed at night.You are also asked to perform light household chores, which include preparing small meals for the children, straightening up, washing, ironing, mopping, vacuuming and just in general cleaning up after yourself. Sometimes your host family may ask you to do some grocery shopping for the family and yourself.

Your rights as an Au Pair

As an Au Pair you receive free room and board for the duration of your stay. Your host family provides a comfortable, fully furnished private bedroom free of charge in their home for you. You also enjoy your meals with your host family. Your host family will treat you as a member of and actively as you wish the family and integrate you in their life as much

For your task an Au Pair you receive a monthly pocket-money of RMB1000.

You are

encouraged to and have the right to attend a language school in your area, normally twice a week,60 hours per 3 months.

In your free time you will have the opportunity to experience cultural events with your new friends, such as theater productions, museums, festivals and movie theaters.

The free time for the au pair,1.5 consecutive days once a month,

a week ,2 consecutive days on the weekend

maximum 30 hours a week during 5.5 days. When youre staying in your host

family for 3 months you are entitled to 3 days of paid vacation.If your host family goes on vacation, they normally take you with them (while youre working for them). If you do not accompany your host Family, they will provide you with food during their absence.

Introduction to Qingdao
Qingdao has beautiful scenery and pleasant climate. A harmonious picture of mountains, sea and city is painted in which one can see the winding coastline, islands and beautiful buildings whose red-roofs are held in the embrace of verdant trees. Many of the European-style buildings used to be home to many famous figures. Qingdao is famous in China for its delicious fresh seafood. The Laoshan Scenic Area has an important position in sightseeing because of its beautiful scenery, natural pearls and exquisite crafts. Qingdao beer (Tsingtao beer), a popular beer brand in the world, is produced in Qingdao, allowing tourists to easily get the freshest Qingdao Beer in Qingdao.

Geographical location:
Qingdao is an Eastern Chinese coastal city located between latitude 3535 to 3709 and longitude 11930 to 12100. The city faces the Yellow Sea on the east and south. Facing North Korea, South Korea and Japan across the sea.

Population: There are seven urban districts (Shinan, Shibei, Sifang, Licang,
Laoshan, Chnegyang and Huangdao) and five county-level cities (Jiaozhou, Jimo, Pingdu, Jiaonan and Laixi) under the juris diction of Qingdao. Eight of the roads are named after the eight great passes of the Great Wall, hence the name Badaguan.
