MyAstaro Guideline Key Activation and License Renewal

Overview
This document will help guide you through the entire license activation process in MyAstaro. In order to activate a license, you will need a valid MyAstaro login with either a License Manager or Account Master status. New users may sign up at https://www.astaro.com/tool/signup. In order to successfully register, the email address the user provides must not exist in the system already. You may login to MyAstaro here: http://www.myastaro.com.

MyAstaro License Management

In order to access the License Management area, End Users should click on License Management in the navigation item on the left; Partners should click on the Account Management item, then Manage Licenses at the bottom. The licensing area (below) is split into two areas, one for new license activation and the other for current licenses.

Key Activation
When purchasing a product, you will receive an activation key (ACT-XXXXXX), which is used to create the final license within the MyAstaro portal.

At the top of the page is a form field with the text Enter Activation Key Here; after pasting the activation key into this field, click the Create license button. You will then be shown an outline of the product you are activating; depending on what type of product you are activating, you must also provide some additional information.

Astaro Security Gateway / Astaro Mail Gateway / Astaro Web Gateway Licenses For a product license, you must provide a nickname for the license, first name, last name, email address (optional), serial number (for hardware appliances) and company of the customer that the license is for. The reseller information is also required.

Once you have added the license, you will enter the license detail view page. Users are required to download the license file from this page then to upload it into the Astaro Gateway itself.

Astaro Report Manager Licenses For an ARM 4.X license, you must provide a nickname for the license, a system identifier file and a license that the ARM installation is tied to. The reseller and customer information must also be entered. More information on obtaining a permanent ARM V4.2 or V4.6 license can be found in the product support section (under partner support) of the partner portal. When an ARM 4.X license is created, a unique ARM software license file is created; the ARM 4.X software requires this license file to be uploaded into its registration form in order to activate all the softwares features. Astaro Secure Client Licenses For an ASC license, the user only needs to provide a nickname for the license, as well as the reseller and customer information. Once they have filled in the information and clicked the Submit button, the license will be created and the customer will be taken to the license detail page. Astaro Secure Client (ASC) licenses can be purchased in bundles (e.g., a one pack, a ten pack, etc.); once the license has been created, the customer can download a single file that will contain all the serial numbers and activation codes (not to be confused with an Astaro activation key) they need to install the secure client software.

Licence Renewals
Click on a license from your current list to view the license detail page. At the bottom of each page is a form field for using upgrade keys (UPG-XXXXX). Here you can paste activation keys in order to add or extend a subscription or maintenance for that license (below).

MyAstaro Guideline Key Activation and License Renewal

In order to distinguish between new license orders and renewals, Astaro has introduced a new set of article numbers for subscription and maintenance renewals. All renewals are marked with an appended "R".

These renewal keys are required for the following purposes: Extending the duration of an existing subscription (Web Filtering, Email Filtering or Email Encryption) by any number of months or years. Extending the duration of a maintenance contract (either gold or platinum) after the current or former contract has expired.

Renewal keys are not required for the following purposes: Buying a new subscription type for the first time. Upgrading a software license to a higher number of users (e.g. from 25 to 50 users. Upgrading an existing maintenance contract to a higher level (e.g. from gold to platinum) for the remaining months of its duration

The MyAstaro licensing portal only accepts activation keys that conform to these rules. Please make sure to always use the correct part numbers within your orders.
