AMW truck sales increase 53% during 2011-1207-02-2012

Mumbai: India's third largest heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer Asia MotorWorks (AMW) reported solid growth during the current fiscal year, with cumulative truck sales of 8078 unitsduring April 2011 to January 2012. This represents a 53% growth over the same period last year, when AMW sold 5285 trucks. AMW also increased its market share in the construction and mining segment of the heavy commercial vehicle market. During the first ten months of 2011-12 the company had a share of 13.7%, compared to 12.7% during the same period last year. This sales performance was due to growing demand for the company's entire product range. AMW offers trucks ranging from 16 tonnes to 49 tonnes and is particularly strong in the Tipper segment. Its trucks are widely used in the construction, mining and infrastructure development sectors. AMW already has 25,000 trucks on Indian roads since it began commercial production in 2008. With its focus on operator productivity and driver comfort, AMW has redefined the Indian trucking industry with itsfeature-rich and value-priced trucks that are well accepted in the market. Recently the company unveiled its range of world class, next generation trucks at the Auto Expo 2012. They include the 4928 TR tractor, 2528 TP tipper and a luxurious new front engine bus called Magnus. These models will complement the existing range of trucks and have been developed indigenously by AMW. They were very well received by dealers, customers and other visitors to the AMW stall at the Auto Expo. Wide Product Range AMW offers trucks ranging from 16 to 49 tons and has pioneered several segments in the Indian CV market. The AMW 49 ton model created the segment and was India's largest tractor trailer at launch. In addition, AMW also created the construction and mining segments in the Indian CV market with its range of tippers. AMW won the 'Truck of the Year' award from NDTV in January 2008. In addition, italsogot the coveted 'CV Innovation of the Year 2009-10' award for its 3123 model. AMW CV Applications was given the 'Truck Application Builder of the Year- 2010' award for its Tranztar brand of fully built vehicles. State of the Art Plant at Bhuj AMW's fully integrated manufacturing facility in Bhuj, Gujarat, has a planned capacity of 50,000 commercial vehicles per annum. It currently employs about 1,200 people and uses state of the art production processes to build world class trucks for the Indian market.
