GET THOSE TAILS WAGGING Last chance to enter the Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show
Australias dog showing community has until this Friday, 9 August 2013 to enter the Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show to be in the running for a prestigious blue ribbon with entry forms available at www.rasv.com.au/dogs. Presented by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show attracts more than 200 breeds and anticipates over 4,000 entries to compete at the 2013 Royal Melbourne Show from Saturday, 21 to Sunday, 29 September 2013 at Melbourne Showgrounds. The Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show continues to grow this year with RASV expanding categories to showcase new and interesting breeds including the Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier, the Cesky Terrier and Borzoi, as well as the feature breed for 2013, the German Shepherd Dog. RASV CEO, Mark OSullivan, is proud that the Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show retains its position as the largest event of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Theres nothing like the prestige of winning a blue ribbon at the Royal Melbourne Show. We strongly encourage all exhibitors to submit entries by this Friday for an opportunity to showcase their dogs against the best of the best in front of a panel of expert judges, said Mr OSullivan. Reinforcing the calibre of the event, the Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show will be overseen by a selection of high profile international judges to share their extensive expertise with exhibitors. The Conformation judging panel will comprise of international industry experts including Denys Janssen of Colombia, Gloria Geringer of the USA, Juan Carlos Vasconsellos of Paraguay, Pedro Delerue of Portugal, and for the first time at any Australian Royal Show, Herr HansPeter Fetten of Germany will be judging the German Shepherd Dog Specialty which includes both varieties of German Shepherd Dog. Australian judges include Debbie Cozart of West Australia (Sweepstakes), Brian Fielder of South Australia (Obedience, Agility and Jumping) as well as Jan Edwards of New South Wales and Christina Pickersgill who will judge Dances With Dogs. This year the RASV has enhanced facilities for exhibitors, including exhibitor only amenities. Additionally, the RASV is making a limited number of breed club booths available to breed and obedience clubs to promote their respective breeds and disciplines to Show patrons. The competition is presented in conjunction with DOGS Victoria and is proudly sponsored by Advance. The 2013 Royal Melbourne Show is being held across twelve days from Saturday, 21 September to Wednesday, 2 October.
