1. Check the oil pressure to the bearings before every start up. 2. Check for auto start of AOP/EOP once in shift. 3. Check up the start of opening and full lift of the servomotor. 4. Apply molykote to all moving parts to avoid jamming. 5. WWG- ensure manual knob is in min. position.

DOS & DONTS OF TURBINE OPERATION(BEFORE START UP)

6.Check for free rotation of oil pump. 7.Check all protections for their working. 8.Ensure the barring gear disengagement after rolling, in case of compressor drive, the barring to be stopped before rolling. 9.Ensure the stoppage of jacking oil pump after turbine rolling. 10.Ensure the extraction valves are fully closed before rolling.

1. Check the freeness of the washers on holding down bolts. 2. Check for any unusual sounds in mop, barring, tripping device area. 3. Check for any steam leaks. 4. If turbine is running with a constant load for a long period check for freeness of control valve spindle by varying the load. 5. Check the operation of over-speed governor once in 3 months.

6. Check the freeness of ESV spindle once in 3 months. 7. Ensure turbine trip when boiler trips. 8. Check the main oil tank regularly. 9. Check for foam formation in main oil tank. 10. Check the oil sample once in 3 months. 11. Record run down time after the trip.

DOS & DONTS OF TURBINE OPERATION (DURING SHUT DOWN/ STAND STILL)
1. During long shut down put the m/c on barring gear once in a week. 2. Keep the m/c purged with N2 with 0.2 kg pr. 3. Check the conditions of the auxiliaries before restart after long time.

DOS & DONTS OF TURBINE OPERATION DONT.

1. Start the m/c if EOP/ AOP are not working in Auto. 2. Try to adjust the servomotor while m/c in operation. 3. Operate the m/c with the governor hunting. 4. Meddle with the manual knob of I/H converter when m/c is in operation. 5. Raise the speed fast when MOP/ Governor are taking over.

DOS & DONTS OF TURBINE OPERATION DONT.

6. Operate the hyd. barring gear without oil. 7. Operate JOP/ Barring gear during M/c operation. 8. Start rolling till hand barring is locked. 9. By pass the trips. 10. Warm up suddenly. 11. Operate the m/c without proper insulation. 12. Keep the tester in test position while running. 13. Mix different grades of oils. 14. Allow the hot well level to raise in stand still condition.
