Advanced structural calculus combined with high tech, composite material has resulted in an aircraft with top performances in its class but with very compact dimensions and light weight. Both cockpits are however roomy enough to fit even 95% percentile pilots.

The structure was designed and computed by the Aero structure Department of Turin Polytechnic University. Extensive use was made of Finite Element Modelling (FEM) and NASTRAN techniques.

Initial aerodynamic characteristics were identified through wind tunnel testing of a 1:10 scale model.

Professional, state of the art computation and modelling tools were intensively used to optimize the industrialisation process and minimize production costs.

Several innovative technical solutions were introduced during the design process. As an example pilot and passengers seats were built to work as fuselage frames thus keeping basic weight low while maintaining however an optimal ergonomic design for pilot comfort.

The structure was designed to comply with JAR VLA requirements. Actual aircraft manoeuvring limitations highly depend on choice of engine type.

The whole structure is realised in pre-preg carbon fibre.

The wing core is characterized by double pass through carbon fibres longerons.

The aircraft has been designed with SAFETY FIRST concept.

A high strength, composite material, 4-spar cockpit structure provides a very resistant protective box around both pilots.

Internal BALLISTIC PARACHUTE provides extra safety for the occupants in case of an emergency situation.

Fuel tanks utilize Formula 1 foam technology which provides good anti blast protection. Both tanks are located in the wings, away from the cockpit. Optimum design layout requires no individual fuel selector thus providing an inherent and effective protection against engine fuel starvation due to student mishandling.

An internal FIRE EXTINGUISHER for engine compartment is provided.

Ergonomical seats and a great habitability provide maximum comfort also during long trips.

The aircraft has been designed with enhancing features for the training role.

Millennium seats student and instructor in a vertically staggered tandem seating configuration typical of high performance aircraft. This feature allows maximum training effectiveness for the student and optimum field of view for the instructor.

It is possible to equip Master with traditional instrumentation or with digital man-machine interface.

On board, solid state, 40 hour flight recording capability of engine, structure and flight parameters is a standard feature. Data is easily downloadable on a PC through a USB interface. This feature allows constant monitoring of aircraft usage and consequently optimization of logistical support and maintenance procedures. The same unit also allows a complete replay of the whole flight, as seen by the student pilot, for optimum training effectiveness.

Remarkably good take off and landing performances coupled with ease of handling and sturdy landing gear allow normal operations to be carried out from

unpaved short surfaces or grass.

Single point refuelling minimizes turn around time.

Standard 100 HP Rotax engine requires, in addition to standard aviation fuel, easy to find, cheaper automotive unleaded fuel. Very low fuel consumption (15-20 Lt/h) greatly reduces logistic and operational costs. Engine MTBO is 1200 hours with simple intermediate checks. Rotax engine is a proven unit in widespread use. Spare parts are easy to find and competitively priced. Several other engine choices, are however available and would easily fit in the spacious engine compartment.

Optimally located portholes allow easy inspection of most critical parts (i.e. flight controls).
