Growing older with autism The National Austistic Society This report sets out some of the key issues facing older people with autism and what government and other bodies need to do to make sure they have the services and support they need. http://www.autism.org.uk/gettingon Obesity and disability: adults Public Health England (PHE) This paper examines the evidence linking obesity and disability among adults and looks in detail at the most prevalent disabling conditions in the UK as reported by the Department for Work and Pensions: arthritis, back pain, mental health disorders and learning disabilities. The Consultation: 'Sustaining Services, ensuring fairness: A consultation on migrant access and financial contribution to NHS provision in England' has been launched. This seeks views on the Governments proposal to make changes to ensure that migrants contribute towards the cost of their healthcare. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/migrants-and-overseas-visitors-use-of-thenhs Discrimination by appointment: how black and minority ethnic applicants are disadvantaged in NHS recruitment Race Quality Foundation This publication reports the results of research which looked a cross-section of 30 NHS trusts and found that black and minority ethnic applicants are less likely to be appointed than white applicants. http://www.publicworld.org/files/Discrimination_by_appointment.pdf Environment Who's who in the regions? Regional Voices The regional VCS network organisations have each developed a "who's who" guide to support voluntary and community sector organisations make contact with people in the new health and care structures in each region, including clinical commissioning groups, health and wellbeing boards, local Healthwatch organisations, and commissioning support units. http://www.regionalvoices.org/whoswho Gender Violence against women World Health Organisation This report represents the first systematic study of global data on the prevalence of violence against women - both by partners and non-partners. Some 35% of all women will experience either intimate partner or non-partner violence. The study finds that intimate partner violence is the most common type of violence against women, affecting 30% of women worldwide. Inequalities Longer Lives Interactive Map PHE This interactive map shows how local areas perform on early deaths from the major four killers, like heart disease and cancer, and how this varies across the country. http://longerlives.phe.org.uk/ Physical activity promotion in socially disadvantaged groups: principles for action World Health Organisation Scientific evidence shows that physical inactivity is a leading risk factor for ill health, and that these groups tend to have low levels of activity.
