General Vibe For Year Explore, the programme outcomes are as follows: To finish with Academic Excellence so that you can get into Honours and set yourself apart for future choices To sharpen your Future Focus in order to make the right career choice and to prepare for the world of work Become encouraged to broaden your mindset to examine a range of external resources in order to Focus on those that have a direct appeal to your interests, passions and capabilities

Activity Outcomes To enable Candidate Fellows to: A ssess the progress made on the personal and academic goals set at the beginning of the year as per the Self Development Plan (SDP) submitted. Review and revise 2013 goals where necessary. S trategise for the second half of the year to ensure that goals set are achieved. Submission Date Please submit your Personal Leadership submission by 29 July 2013 (16:00). Activity Overview Part A At the beginning of 2013 you submitted a Self Development Plan (SDP) to your PLPO which mapped out your desired growth for the year as reflected by the goals you had set. It is now 6 months since you submitted your SDP and thus a perfect time for a half year review and reflection. Academic Reflections What worked for you and should form part of your academic strategy for the 2nd semester? Were there factors that caused your goals to be compromised and should not be perpetuated in the 2nd semester? What steps could you have taken or resources you could have accessed to ensure your performance was more aligned to your goals? How did you leverage of your signature strengths to maximise your academic journey thus far?

Personal Leadership Reflections Evaluate each goal you set in your SDP using the following recommended framework: Progress made in achieving the goal as indicated by the degree of alignment between the goal and the actual (please include a reflection of how understanding your five Signature Strengths

allowed you to maximize and leverage of those in order to excel in your chosen Academic field and future Career) Do you want to keep the goal as currently indicated in your SDP, revise or defer it if is no longer a priority for 2013? Action steps to be taken to ensure the goal is met by the end of the year if the goal remains a priority for 2013.

Please refer to the table below for a possible way in which you could approach this exercise. This format is not a required submission format. Part B: B: 2014 Options Reflection At the beginning of the year you mapped out options that were available to you for 2014: (continuing to study further -Honours or Masters/Postgraduate studies, choosing your employer for 2014/2015 finance versus auditing firms, banking, NGO, Law firms etc or taking the road less travelled -starting a business) and the steps required to pursue those options. Please indicate the progress made towards finalising what you will be doing in 2014 advise on any applications made as well as on any opportunities which have been secured. You may also include insights into how you arrived at your selected option and how it is aligned with your your passions, interests, Strengths and/or other contribution factors.
