In the Lights of KAIZEN, Identify 5 MUDA and 5 Visual Management Techniques in an Organization where you did your Internships. Also Suggest at least 2 MUDA and 2 Visual Management for Related Organization.

Organization of Internship: Matrix Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd. MUDA:

1. Fabricated finished parts were stored separately from each other and at the time of assembly, there is time wastage in the handling of these parts. 2. All machines on the shop floor are manual and there is time wastage in loading and unloading of parts on those machines. 3. Most workers are inexperienced so there was some wastage of material during cutting and fabrication. 4. There is no special inventory for storage of completed jobs so these finished parts occupy the space for current jobs on the shop floor 5. Tools which are used in machine shop, first the workers have to get approval from procurement department and then these tools would be issued from store. So a lot of time wastes in this procedure.

Suggestions:
1. Fabricated parts must be labeled and stored category wise so that at the time of assembly there will be no time wastage. 2. Workers should be properly trained so the material wastage is minimal. 3. Either the completed jobs supplied after completion or extra space should be available for storage of completed jobs so that the whole shop floor area will be available for current jobs.

Visual Management:
1. Helmet caps are used of different colors. Blue caps are for visitors, white for engineers and management staff and yellow for workers. 2. Those parts which are fabricated, tagged with the job number. 3. Overhead crane is colored yellow.

4. In store all tools and material are tagged with assigned numbers and these numbers and their location is also recorded into the computer. 5. Faculty layout was displayed in all departments and on the main gate also.

Suggestions:
1. Proper color tags should be used along with job numbers on each fabricated and finished part of the job. 2. Areas of side-walk and for machines should be specified with colored (yellow or white) lines.
