Lesson Objectives

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i) fill in the blanks with 5 out of 6 verbs correctly ii) rearrange the jumbled up sentences in correct order based on the pictures given iii) read the recipe to their friends to find the correct steps of making the recipe iv) identify 5 out 7 verbs in the word puzzle.

Teaching Aids:

Power point presentation, word cards, series of pictures (verbs), realia.

Teaching and Learning Activities 1. Teacher show the ingredients of a recipe using realia. 2. Teacher asks the pupils to identify the ingredients and spell the name of the ingredients.

3. Then, teacher poses several questions to the pupils based on the pictures. Questions Are you familiar with these items? Where can you find these items? What is the use of these items?

4. Teacher asks pupils to guess the recipe that can be made from the ingredients shown to them. 5. Teacher introduces the topic that they are going to learn.

1. Teacher tells the steps to make Tomato and Cheese Omelette by showing a series of pictures which consists of actions involved in preparing Tomato and Cheese Omelet using power point slides. 2. Teacher mimes the verbs from the pictures. 3. Teacher calls some pupils to mime the verb in the pictures and asks the rest to follow.

1. Teacher distributes the reading text to the pupils. While reading ( + 20 mins) Verbs beat heat pour cook sprinkle fold 2. Teacher reads aloud the text to the pupils. After that, teacher asks the pupils to read together. 3. Then, teacher distributes task sheet 1 to all the pupils. 4. Teacher asks the pupils to read the instructions carefully and raise their hands if they have any doubts. 5. Next, teacher explains to the pupils that they are required to fill in the blanks with correct verbs and rearrange the jumbled up sentences by numbering them from 1 to 6. 6. Once the pupils have completed the first part, they need to rewrite the procedures in correct order 7. Teacher monitors and facilitates while the pupils are doing the task sheet. 8. Teacher asks few volunteers to read their answers. 9. Teacher corrects the pupils when they make any mistakes. Post reading ( + 20 mins)

Find the missing steps activity.

1. Teacher asks the pupils to sit in pairs. 2. Teacher tells the pupils that they are going to carry out an activity which is called Find the missing steps 3. Teacher distributes task sheet 2 to each of the pairs. 4. Teacher explains to the pupils that the task sheet contains two parts, part A is for pupil A and part B is for pupil B. Both the parts contain the same recipe but with different steps missing. 5. Teacher asks the pupils to take turn to dictate the recipe to their friend. Before they begin, teacher demonstrates an example to the pupils. 6. Then, teacher asks the pupils to compare their recipes with their pair. 7. Teacher asks few volunteers to present their complete recipe to the class.
