JOURNAL - WEEK 1 (15TH JULY 19TH JULY 2013) On the first day, I am with my practicum partner Nurul Aina

a binti Muhammad reported ourselves to Pn Junaidah binti Tamby Hashim the headmistress of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Bintang Utara Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. We hand over the Letter of Introduction from the Institute to her and introduced ourselves and our courses. The headmistress gave us briefing about many aspects that we need to know about the school and regulations which includes;,History, rules, discipline and the culture of the school, Structure, organizations, roles, responsibilities of the authorities, teachers and the staffs and the implementation of activities and other information regarding the co-curriculum. After the briefing, the Senior Assistant of Academic (GPK) introduced us to the teachers and the staff. Then we were introduced to our mentor, Mrs. Hafizah Bt Mohammad Yussof. She is Year 1 English teacher and she will be our facilitator for these two months. We were reminded that we must come to consult her for anything regarding the school, the lesson or the students. Mrs, Hafizah gave us guidance to us about the classes, subjects contents, scheme of work and also the semester plan. On the second day, I was given the time table and classes to teach. I received in total 10 period of teaching from Monday to Friday. I got to teach two classes, Year 5 Innovative and Year 1 Creative and both of the classes; I have to teach English and Language Arts respectively. For that I have to prepare the Yearly Scheme of Work along with the Curriculum Specification for each standard. I did not have any problem in preparing myself for the class as I was given proper briefing in the institute and I also have experienced from the first practicum in the previous school. Other than that our lecture also guides us throughout the period and gives us thorough explanation for the practicum. On the third day, I made my move to have the chance of entering the classes that I am going to be teaching. For the Year 5 class, I went to meet the subjects teacher, Mrs. Lily Rahimah, and I asked her permission to observe her in the class that Im going to be teaching for these two months. She gave me the opportunity to come into her class for the one hour lesson of English. In her class I saw that the students were behaving very well due to the strictness and the way that she controlled the class. The confidence that the teacher shows impressed me and her lesson went very smoothly and the students seems to understand the lesson well. On the fourth day, I make notes and things that I need to aware in 5 Innovative and the students profile and behaviors. This is important as it will give me the advantages in handling the class and acknowledge the weak and good students so that I can come well prepared to the class. After that I went into the school library to meet the ICT teacher, Mr. Rahim. I asked of him about the usage of ICT in the school and no wonder that this school is a cluster school as the facilities of the ICT is thoroughly complete. On the fifth day, I started to do my lesson plans and prepared all the necessary things that need to be done before coming in to the class for next week.
