PP-PI Sheets Configuration Steps

Step 1 : Define control recipe destinations

In this IMG activity, you define control recipe destinations along with their addresses. If required, you also define the following:

The sequence in which material-related process instructions are generated in the process order The following for destinations whose control recipes are to be displayed as SAP PI sheets:
o o o

The type of signature (1) to be used in the PI sheet Data that controls system performance during PI sheet display Details about the actions for which a log is to be written in the PI sheet and whether a signature must be executed when logging these actions

For the transfer of control recipes with XSteps to an external system, the Generation of XSteps Blocks indicator must be set. (More information on the use of XSteps with connection of external systems is available in the SAP Library under Production Planning Process Industries -> Process Management -> XSteps ).

Requirements

If the control recipe destination is a non-SAP system, you must define an RCF destination (see Define RFC Destination). You must define a signature strategy that you want to assign to the control recipe destination in the following cases (see Define Signature Strategies):
o o

If a signature strategy with one digital signature is required If a signature strategy with several digital signatures is required

Standard settings The standard system contains examples of control recipe destinations.

Activities To create a control recipe destination, proceed as follows: 1. Choose New Entries. The detail screen for the control recipe destination appears. 2. Enter a key, description, type, and address for the control recipe destination. 3. If you want the system to generate process instructions for the control recipe destination, specify the sequence in which material-related process instructions are added to the process order or control recipe. 4. For control recipe destinations of type 1 (transfer to ABAP list-based PI sheet), specify the number of phases to be displayed at once in the PI sheet. You can change this setting in the PI sheet. 5. Specify whether you want to use signatures without a password check, signatures with a simple password (for type 1 only), or digital signatures for the following types of control recipe destinations:
o o

Type 1 (transfer to ABAP list-based PI sheet) Type 4 (transfer to browser-based PI sheet)

6. If only one signature is required, you have the following options:

o

You can use the Simple Password Check for control recipe destinations of type 1. Go back to the control recipe destination overview and define passwords for the corresponding users. You need to be authorized to maintain users to do so. a) Choose Password. b) Choose Create password. c) Enter the user name along with the password.

For control recipe destinations of type 1 and type 4, you have the following options: You set the Digital Signature indicator. As a result, the signature method specified in the simple signature is automatically valid for all control recipe destinations to which you have not assigned a signature strategy.

You set the Digital Signature indicator and enter a signature strategy with one individual signature for the following cases: - To sign a process step - To confirm invalid input values 7. If several digital signatures are required, you define which signature strategy you want to use:
o o

To sign a process step To confirm invalid input values

If you want to use a different signature strategy for specific process instructions, you can assign the strategy directly to the process instruction. 8. If a log is to be created in the PI sheet, enter the following in the Logging in PI Sheet group box:
o o o

Which actions are to be logged Whether a signature must be executed when logging Which signature strategy is to be used for the Log with Digital Signature

9. Save. (1) Types of Signature The SAP PI sheet supports the following types of signature: Signatures without a password check You do not need a special authorization to enter this type of signature in the PI sheet. The system does not check the signature you entered. Signatures with a simple password check You can use this signature type for control recipe destinations of type 1 only. Signatures with a simple password check consist of the following:

A user name An application-specific user password

In the process instruction for the signature, you can specify any activity for the authorization object in the PI sheet. The system checks this authorization when you enter a signature in the PI sheet. You assign plant-specific user passwords in Customizing for Control Recipe Destinations. To do so, you must be authorized to create user master records. Digital signatures

If only one signature is required, you have the following options:

o

Simple signature with signature method If you only set the Digital signature indicator, the signature method specified in the simple signature is automatically used for all control recipe destinations to which you have not assigned a signature strategy. For simple signatures, you assign the signature strategy you want to use to the following signature objects: - PI sheet: process step - PI sheet: accept invalid input values To make settings for the simple signature, go to Customizing for Process Management and choose activity Control Recipes/PI Sheets > Digital Signature -> Specify Signature Method for Approval Using Simple Signature.

Signature strategy with one individual signature Here, you assign an additional signature strategy with one individual signature to the control recipe destination or process instruction.

If more than one signature is required, you can use the:

o

Signature strategy with several individual signatures Here, you assign an additional signature strategy with several individual signatures to the control recipe destination or process instruction.

To make settings for the signature strategy, go to Customizing for Process Management and choose activity Control Recipes/PI Sheets -> Digital Signature -> Signature Strategy.

To execute a digital signature, you must have the following authorizations:

In the authorization object for the PI sheet: The authorization for the actvity Execute digital signature as well as for any activity defined in the process instruction

In the authorization object for the digital signature: The authorization for the authorization group of the relevant individual signature if you use signature strategies When executing a signature, you can also enter a comment. Entering a comment is mandatory for signatures that are used to accept invalid input values.

In this step, you assign the suitable process instruction categories to the following types of control recipe destinations:

Type 2, "Download to external system, initiated by Process Management" Type 3, "Download to external system, initiated by process control"

As a result, only the assigned process instruction categories are displayed when you call up the possible entries function from the following points:

in Customizing, when you specify which process instructions are to be generated automatically for a control recipe destination. in the master recipe and the process order, when you create process instructions for a phase to which the control recipe destination is assigned.

You can still enter a process instruction category that is not assigned to the control recipe destination. However, the system displays a warning. If you do not assign process instruction categories to a control recipe destination, all existing process instruction categories are displayed as possible entries as usual.

You cannot assign process instruction categories to control recipe destinations of type 1 "Transfer of Control Recipe to ABAP List-Based PI sheet". For this type, all process instruction categories are displayed as possible entries. Activities 1. Select the control recipe destination to which you want to assign the process instruction category. 2. Go to the screen Allocation of process instruction categories. 3. To assign process instruction categories, choose New entries. 4. Enter the process instruction category you want to assign. 5. Save the settings.

Step 2 : Assign process instruction categories

In this IMG activity, you specify the process instructions that are to be generated automatically when a control recipe is created for a particular control recipe destination. Requirements The process instruction categories have been created in the system:

Define process instruction categories (general) Define PI categories for SAP PI sheet using PI assistant Define PI categories for SAP PI sheet using char. overview

Standard settings The standard system contains sample settings for the automatic generation of process instructions. Activities 1. Select the control recipe destination for which you want to make settings. 2. Go to the Process instructions to be generated screen. 3. To make new settings, choose New entries.

4. Enter the process instruction categories for which you want to generate process instructions. 5. For each of these instruction categories, specify the following information:
o

The position within the control recipe or the process order at which the generated process instructions are to be inserted The sequence of the process instructions if process instructions of several categories are to be inserted at the same position The scope of generation, that is, the objects for which process instructions are to be generated at the specified position; for example, "for all reservations" A filter if further criteria are to be used to restrict the number of process instructions selected via the position and the scope of generation

6. If required, edit the filter as described below but refer to the notes in the IMG activity Edit Filters for Process Instruction Generation. a) To create a new filter, enter the name of the filter and choose Enter. To change an existing filter, choose Change filter in the corresponding line. b) Enter the criteria according to which the objects are selected for which you want to generate process instructions. c) Select the attributes and enter a description for the filter in the Meaning field. d) Save the filter and choose Back. e) If you want to include the filter in a transport request, select it and choose Continue. f) Enter the number of the transport request and choose Continue. 7. Save your settings. Example The following entry has been made for a control recipe destination:

Process instruction category QMJMP, "Jump to QM results recording for operation"

Position 03, "At the start of an operation" Scope of generation <blank>, "Only one process instruction" Filter with selection criterion Inspection characteristics referring to the control key of the operation or phase

This means that an inspection results request is generated for each operation for which the indicator Inspection characteristics is set in the control key. Notes Process instructions that are generated automatically must only contain characteristics whose value is assigned in Customizing or automatically in the process order. In the detail data for the Set up control recipe destination view, you can determine whether the generated process instructions are sorted according to their process instruction category or the corresponding material. You can do this for the following scopes of generation:

01 (For all reservations) 02 (For all order items) 03 (For all reservations and order items)

If you want to generate sequence definitions for your control recipe destination, note the following:

You must define sequence definitions at the start of a phase before all other process instructions. You cannot use sequence definitions together with hidden process data requests that is, process data requests for which no values must be entered in the PI sheet.

Define Process Instruction Categories (General) In this section, you define the process instruction categories categories you want to use in your plant. For each instruction category, you specify

The process instruction type</ type to which it pertains The information transferred in the process instructions (via characteristic assignments)

When creating a process instruction in the master recipe or process order, you must assign it to a process instruction category. Thus, the settings you make here are used as a reference for the process instruction. Except for the process instruction type, you can change all settings in the process instruction. Note Which process instruction types and characteristics you can use depends on the target system for which you define the instruction categories. This section describes the general options offered by SAP. For information on defining process instruction categories for the SAP PI sheet, see the following sections:

Define PI categories for SAP PI sheet using PI assistant Define PI categories for SAP PI sheet using char. overview

Activities 1. Define process instruction categories 2. Assign characteristics to process instruction categories Note on BC Sets and Transport If you include your process instruction categories in a Customizing transport, the corresponding long texts are included in the transport request. However, the long texts cannot be included in a BC set. If you want to include your process instructions in another client or another system with the help of BC sets, you have to include the long texts manually in a workbench request and transport them separately (see Transport long texts of process instruction categories).

Define PI Categeories for SAP PI Sheet Using PI Assistant

In this section, you define the process instruction categories for the SAP PI sheet using the process instruction assistant. When you create a process instruction in the master recipe or process order, you must assign it to a process instruction category. Thus, the settings you make here serve as a reference for the process instruction. Except for the process instruction type, you can, however, change all settings in the process instruction. Note You can also make the corresponding settings for your process instruction categories directly in the characteristic overview. If you want to do so, see the notes in section Define PI Categories for SAP PI Sheet Using Characteristic Overview. Requirements If you want to use characteristics in your process instructions that are not contained in the standard system, you must define these characteristics in the system; see Define Characteristics for Process Instructions. If you want to define a process instruction category of type process data request or process data calculation formula, you must first create the corresponding message category; see Set Up Process Message Categories. If you want to define a process message category of type dynamic function call, you must first create the function module to be called; see Define SAP Function Module. Standard settings The standard system contains several examples for process instruction categories for the SAP PI sheet. Activities 1. To create a new process instruction category, choose New entries and enter the key, description, and process instruction type. Note that you cannot use process instruction type process data subscription for the PI sheet. 2. Select the process instruction category. 3. Choose PI assistant. Depending on the process instruction type, make the corresponding settings described in the following sections:

o o o o o o

Set Up Process Parameters Set Up Process Data Requests Set Up Process Data Calculation Formulas Set Up Inspection Results Requests Set Up Dynamic Function Calls Set Up Sequence Definitions

Note:
o

In some cases, you will only be able to make definite settings in the master recipe or process order (for example, the text for a control instruction or the value of a message characteristic). If you do not want to enter default values in Customizing in these cases, leave the relevant field in the process instruction category blank. Using Text Symbols in Process Instructions

4. Choose Additional functions and Proc. instr. instruction. The system checks the process instruction and displays the information, warning, and error messages collected in the log. 5. To display the messages in the log, select the log, and choose Goto -> Display messages. 6. Correct errors. 7. After you have made all settings, choose Copy. If you have not corrected all errors, the log is displayed again. However, to call up the process instruction assistant again, you must first choose Continue to go back to the overview of process instruction categories. 8. Save the process instruction category. Notes on BC sets and transport If you include your process instruction categories in a Customizing transport, the corresponding long texts are included in the transport request. However, the long texts cannot be included in a BC set. In order to transport a long text to another client or another system, you must include it manually in a workbench order (see Transport long texts from process instruction types).

Define PI Categories for SAP PI Sheet Using Characteristic O In the following sections, you define process instruction categories for the PI sheet and make the corresponding settings for them using the characteristic overview. When creating a process instruction in the master recipe or process order, you must assign it to a process instruction category. Thus, the settings you make here serve as a reference for the process instruction. Except for the process instruction type, you can, however, change all settings in the process instruction. Note You can also use the process instruction assistant to make the settings for your process instruction categories. If you want to do so, see the notes in section Define PI categories for the SAP PI sheet using the PI assistant. Step 3: Set process instructions to be generated automatically In this IMG activity, you specify the process instructions that are to be generated automatically when a control recipe is created for a particular control recipe destination. Requirements The process instruction categories have been created in the system:

Process instruction category QMJMP, "Jump to QM results recording for operation" Position 03, "At the start of an operation" Scope of generation <blank>, "Only one process instruction" Filter with selection criterion Inspection characteristics referring to the control key of the operation or phase

If you want to generate sequence definitions for your control recipe destination, note the following:

You must define sequence definitions at the start of a phase before all other process instructions. You cannot use sequence definitions together with hidden process data requests that is, process data requests for which no values must be entered in the PI sheet.

Definition: characteristic-based process instruction

Production Planning for Process Industries (PP-PI) Structure used to transfer data or instructions from PP-PI to process control. Characteristic-based process instructions are assigned to the phases of the master recipe and the process order. They are combined in a control recipe and transferred to process control for execution. Depending on the type of information sent, types of process instructions include:

Universal process instruction type Process parameters Process data requests Process message subscriptions Process data calculation formulas Inspection data requests Dynamic function calls Sequence definitions

In comparison to XSteps, you must process characteristic-based process instructions using characteristics in the process instruction overview for the master recipe or process order manually. Return -> Definition: characteristic-based process instruction
