Freedom. This month we celebrate the freedom we have enjoyed in this country for over 200 years. Freedom that didnt come cheap, but at a great cost. Each July 4th, we celebrate our Independence Day and we remember all who have given their lives and those who continue to fight to maintain our many freedoms. We are also reminded that with the rights we claim in our freedom, come responsibilities. To preserve our freedom we understand that we are expected to pay taxes, obey the laws put in place by our government and, when called upon, serve in the military. If we choose to ignore those responsibilities or go out of our way to subvert them, we run the risk of losing our rights of freedom. We, as Christians, celebrate another freedom. Through Christ, we have freedom from sin and death. It is a freedom that also did not come cheap. It came at the cost of the life of Jesus Christ. This is a freedom we celebrate daily as we remember our baptism and weekly when we gather in worship. Because our freedom from sin and death has been paid for in Christ, we arent called to pay for it or to maintain it. It cannot be taken away or lost. It is ours not because we earned it or deserve it. It is ours because God desires it for us, and we are reminded of this gift each time we participate in the Lords Supper and receive Gods grace. Though we cannot earn it or lose it, we are called to live our life of freedom because we have been freed. In thanksgiving for Gods grace, we respond to Gods grace by living out our freedom in the world.

We live not in fear of Gods retribution; rather we live in thanksgiving in joy at the boundless gift of Gods love. Living in freedom frees us to act in love and compassion for others without worrying whether we are doing it the right way. Living in freedom frees us to act in opposition to injustice and oppression wherever it is found. Living in freedom frees us to live in joy and hope in a fear-filled world. So as we celebrate our nations independence and the freedoms we enjoy, let us also live joyfully in the freedom we have in Christ. In Christ, Pastor John

We are still in need of some more willing volunteers to help out when food or servers are needed for funeral dinners, luncheons, etc. Talk to Kim Shaw if you are willing to be added to the list. The cost of mowing the church yard is $30/week. This is an added expense during the summer when we already experience lower attendance at church. If you would like to donate $30 (or more) designated to help cover the cost of mowing, it would be greatly appreciated! You can drop a check or money off at Tri-County Bank.
Simply Giving Authorization Forms are now available!

THIS ISSUE

This program is especially important during the summer months, as it helps us all remain faithful in our giving here at home when we are off traveling & visiting. Please strongly consider signing up. This allows you to give to your church weekly or monthly, regardless of your attendance in church. Authorization forms are on the table in the entry way. If you have questions, please speak with Pastor John or Carol Friedrich.

1. Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout. 2. So why is a car's windshield so large and the rear view mirror so small? Because our past is not as important as our future. So, look ahead and move on. 3. Friendship is like a book. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write. 4. All things in life are temporary. If it's going well, enjoy it, that won't last long. If it's going badly, don't worry, that won't last long either. 5. Old friends are gold! New friends are diamonds! If you get a diamond, don't forget the gold! Because to hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold! 6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!" 7. When God solves your problems, you have faith in His abilities; when God doesn't solve your problems, He has faith in your abilities. 8. A blind person asked St. Anthony, "Can there be anything worse than losing eyesight?" He replied, "Yes, losing your vision!" 9. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them; sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you. 10. Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles, it takes away today's peace. - Shared by Conrad Anderson

Remember camp as a kid? I have great memories! Lets make some rip-roaring good memories for the kids around here and put on the best camp yet! Weve shortened it to work into ANYONES SCHEDULE. Friday evening starting at 5:00 through church services and pot luck at Noon on Sunday. Thats only 2 nights in cabins. And what great cabins they are! Weve adopted them, so they must be special! Let us know how you can rustle up some time or groceries and make it a great SonWest Roundup at Cleveland Bible Camp, 17 miles north of Stuart. We are having one more get together with the planning posse on Tuesday, July 2nd at St. Peter at 6:00. Camp dates are July 12-14. We are needing Trail bosses and posses for Lessons on Friday evening, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Or maybe you like to play games? Or is music your forte? A list of food items will be passed around in church if youd like to fill the bellies of our little whipper snappers. Talk to God and see how He would like for you to help. Youll be glad you did!!!
