INSTRUCTIONS Make Rose With Rose Color, CO 5 sts. Rows 1, 3, 5: Kfb, k to end. Rows 2, 4, 6: P to last 2 sts, pfb, p1. 11 sts. Row 7: Knit Row 8: Purl Rows 9, 11, 13: K1, k2tog, k to end. Rows 10, 12, 14: P to last 3 sts, p2tog, p1. 5 sts. Repeat rows 1-14 twice. Three small petals made. Repeat rows 1-16 twice, three medium petals made. Do not break yarn, continue as follows: Rows 1, 3, 5: Kfb, k to end. Rows 2, 4, 6: P to last 2 sts, pfb, p1. 11 sts. Row 7, 9, 11: Knit Row 8, 10, 12: Purl Rows 13, 15, 17: K1, k2tog, k to end. Rows 14, 16, 18: P to last 3 sts, p2tog, p1. 5 sts. Repeat rows 1-18 three times. Four large petals made, 10 petals total. Finish rose as follows: Row Row Row Row 1: 2: 3: 4: K1, k2tog, k2. 4 sts. P1, p2tog, p1. 3 sts. K1, k2tog. 2 sts. P2tog. 1 st.
Fasten off the last stitch and break yarn, leaving a 30-inch tail to sew rose to base. Make Base With Base Color, CO 3 sts and work 3-stitch I-cord for 12-inches, or desired length. Turn needle so that working yarn is on your right hand side and beg working back and forth on two double-point needles as follows: Increase rows 1-15: Kfb, k to end. 18 sts. Knit 12 rows (garter stitch). Decrease rows 1-15: k2tog, k to end. 3 sts. Slide 3 rem sts to opposite end of double-point needle and work 3-stitch I-cord for 12 inches, or desired length. Break yarn and thread yarn tail through rem 3 sts. Place a pin on one side of the base to mark the right side. Make Leaves Small leaf: With right side facing, pick up three stitches along edge of base next to I-cord, as pictured in Diagram 1. Work back and forth on 2 double-point needles as follows: Row Row Row Row 1 (and all odd-numbered WS rows): Purl 2: K1, yo, k1, yo, k1. 5 sts. 4: K2, yo, k1, yo, k2. 7 sts. 6: K3, yo, k1, yo, k3. 9 sts.

Fasten off last st and break yarn. Large Leaf: With right side facing, pick up three stitches along edge of base next to I-cord as pictured in diagram 1. Rows 10, 12, 14, 16: Ssk, k to last 2 sts, k2tog. 3 sts. Row 17: Sk2p. 1 st. Finishing Secure leaves by stitching one edge of each leaf to the I-cord, as pictured in Diagram 1. With purl side facing outward, pin the large petals along the outside edge of the base. Continue rolling up the rose in a spiral shape and pin in place, finishing with the small petals in the center. Stitch the straight edge of the rose to the base with the 30-inch yarn tail. Weave in all ends. Soak and block well, shaping petals and leaves. Voil! A rose as pretty as any youve seen in a garden!
