Sequence equence Networks of a Synchronous Machine

1. OBJECTIVES Determine the sequence parameters arameters of the equivalent circuit for a synchronous hronous machine and build the positive, negative ative and zero sequence equivalent circuits. 2. EQUIPMENT Synchronous machine: Hampden SM-100-3 Motor tor & Alternator Prime mover: C Machine Hampden DM-100A DC Multimeter Oscilloscope: Hewlet Packard, ard, 100 MHZ, 2 channel, channel Voltage probe, current ent probe 3. PROCEDURE dance a) Positive-Sequence Impedance (1) (1)

1) Connect the synchronous nous machine to operate as a 173 V (line ine-to-line), 32, Y-connected (armature e winding) synchronous motor, grounded through rough a neutral, with the field winding g open, and positive sequence voltages (sequence equence A-B-C) A applied to the stator windings ndings as shown in Fig. 1.

2)

Have the instructor check eck you machine and meter connections before proceeding.

3) Record in the Table 1: : the voltage VA at the stator terminal A (L1), stator current IA, and real power Ptotal(3PAN). b) Negative-Sequence Impedance edance

1) Connect the synchronous us machine to operate as a 173 V, 32, Y-connected nected (armature winding) synchronous motor, grounded through a neutral, with the he field winding short-circuited, and negative egative sequence voltages (sequence A-C-B) A are re applied to the stator windings as shown wn in Fig. 2. 2) Have the instructor check eck your you machine and meter connections before e proceeding.
