El propsito de este seminario es adentraremos en la discusin y anlisis de algunos de los debates tericos, epistemolgicos, y metodolgicos que han surgido en las tres ltimas dcadas en estudios de fenmenos culturales contemporneos. El seminario est dividido en tres partes. En la primera revisaremos algunas reflexiones que han aparecido en torno a la prctica de la investigacin cultural en el campo. Es decir, cmo se define la cultura en relacin al trabajo etnogrfico? Qu es la reflexividad en la prctica etnogrfica?, qu tipo de relaciones se desarrollan entre el investigador con sus sujetos de estudiotambin llamados colaboradores o informantes de la investigacin? y qu tipo de experiencias, conflictos, sentimientos, y problemas ticos pueden surgir en el proceso de la investigacin cultural? En la segunda parte del curso, analizaremos algunos trabajos que tratan temas sobre la ciudadana cultural, la idea de comunidad, la emergencia de nuevas identidades, y los procesos de racializacin en sociedades multiculturales con un enfoque postcolonial la diversidad de gnero, la sexualidad y los conceptos de mujer y hombre en diferentes contextos socioculturales. Las discusiones aqu presentadas nos llevarn a entender la transversalidad cultural en diversas dimensiones de la vida social y la complejidad de la prctica de la investigacin sociocultural. Polticas de evaluacin: La evaluacin de los estudiantes consistir de los siguientes puntos: a) Asistencia y participacin efectiva en cada sesin de trabajo. 20%. b) 2 exposiciones de las lecturas del curso. Las presentaciones debern ser hechas en ppt y compartidas en pdf para la clase. 10%. c) 3 ensayos reflexivos (clase 2, 3, y 4) que articulen la discusin de los puntos abordados en las lecturas asignadas a cada clase y que hagan eco con sus proyectos de investigacin. Extensin: tres cuartillas a doble espacio por cada ensayo. 20%. d) Un ensayo final donde se argumenten las intersecciones que el estudiante identifique entre los contenidos del curso y su proyectos de investigacin doctoral. Extensin de 12 a 15 cuartillas mximo a doble espacio. 50%. Entrega: 5 de Junio. **Durante las clases se limita el uso de telfonos celulares (apagados), ipods, y audfonos.
