Usually, the principal function of insulation is to provide protection against the cold. However, if the insulation is to provide protection for living space located directly under a roof, then its ability to limit the transmission of heat becomes a priority. To prevent the finished living space from becoming uncomfortably warm, the insulation must have the necessary thermal storage capacity to dampen and delay the flow of heat from the exterior to the interior. Often, it is necessary to insulate the interior sides of outer walls (for example, if protected historic buildings are involved). GUTEX wood fibreboards qualities make them ideal for such applications. Without suffering a loss in their insulation capacity, GUTEX fibreboards are capable of absorbing

and releasing up to 20% of their weight in moisture. GUTEX Multiplex-top is suitable as a substrate for plaster or wallpaper. We recommend the use of GUTEX Thermosafe with GUTEX Multiplextop if a thicker insulation layer is required.

Besides dividing open areas into rooms, lightweight walls must also meet sound and fire protection requirements. Thanks to their open-pore structure, wood fibreboards absorb both structure born noise and indirect reflected sound. GUTEX fibreboards are classified with fire ratings of F30 to F90. Tests and expert certifications are available on request. Commonly available metal studs or timber studs are suitable for use.
