The Assure Model Assure model is a guide for planning and delivering instruction that integrates media.

This model also incorporates Gagnes events of instruction. There are six steps included in the Assure model. They are analyze the learner, stating the objectives, select methods, media and materials, utilize materials, require learner participation and to evaluate and revise. The Assure model is learner-centered. The first step in planning is to identify the learners. In order to select the best medium, we must know our students well to meet the objectives. In analyzing the learners, it focuses on the learners general characteristics, identifies specific entry competencies required and evaluates learning styles. General characteristics such as age, grade level and cultural or socioeconomic factors can provide guidance in selecting instructional methods and media. For example, we might choose using a nonprint media in working with primary school children as they like animation and pictures. Specific entry competencies refer to knowledge and skills that learners either possess or lack. In designing instruction, learners learning styles are also important because they will be motivated in learning if we design according to their needs. The next step is to state the objectives as specifically as possible. The objectives maybe derived from a needs assessment or a course syllabus, stated in a text-book or developed by the instructor. The objectives should be stated in terms of what the learner will be able to do as a result of instruction. It also should be stated in terms of the conditions under which the student is going to perform and the degree of acceptable performance should be included. The third step is to select methods, media and materials. The selection process has three steps that are deciding on the appropriate method for the given learning tasks, choosing a media format that is suitable for carrying out the method and selecting, modifying, or designing specific materials within that media format.

We can choose to use a variety of methods in our instructional session. For example, we can ask our students to present and share their ideas of certain topic with their classmates. The method selected should best match the learners profiles developed in the analysis phase and the stated objectives. Media format is the physical form in which the message is incorporated and displayed (Heinich et al., 41). We must choose the most suitable media format for our students such as audio, video, slides, charts and others. The last step in selection is obtaining specific materials. We can design our own materials to suit the needs of the learners. Criteria in selecting the materials are the information should be current issue, accurate and unbiased, and also it will motivate the interest in students. The next step is to utilize media and materials selected. We must preview the materials first. During the selection process, we should determine the materials that are appropriate for our audience and objectives. After previewing the materials, we must prepare the materials. We should gather all the media and support materials, practice using the media if necessary and determine the sequencing of your instruction. After that, we must prepare the environment. The environment must suit the needs of the presentation. This step includes setting up the facilities where the instruction is to take place such as rearranging seating or adjusting the lighting. The fourth p is to prepare the learner. This is your introduction to the lesson to inform the learners of what is expected of them. The fifth step in the Assure model is to provide opportunities for learners to practice the capability being taught. Feedback from the teacher is very important in this step as this will boost the motivation in students to learn. The final step in Assure model is to evaluate and revise. There are three purposes of this evaluation. They are evaluation of learner achievement, evaluation of methods and media and the evaluation of the instructional process. After we evaluate, we can look at the results and revise the methods if there are some problems in it.

In conclusion, Assure model is learner-centered and it focuses on the learner and their participation which makes this model unique. Assure model also can help the teacher to be more careful in planning their lessons well.
