2. Parametric Test of Optical Interface (Not Applicable for EEE/EE Module) I) Optical launch Power Measurement for STM-1/4/16/64

Test Description This test is performed to measure the optical transmit power of the STM-1/4/16/64 optical Units. Test Equipment Optical Power Meter, Local Craft Terminal (LCT), Fiber optic patch cord

OPT TX Test Procedure:

OPTICAL Power meter

Set the optical power meter to the desired wavelength and switch ON Results: Trans Power (dBm) Port 1 port 2 Connect the optical power meter to the optical transmit port using the fiber optic patch cord. Set the laser control to ON using the LCT software. Record the reading shown on the optical power meter. Check the trans power of the laser source through LCT. Identify whether the test has passed or failed based on the pass/fail criteria indicated in the test record section. Repeat the above procedure for other cards/ports also.

III) Test of Automatic Laser Safety (ALS) Feature of optical Interface. Test Description: This test is performed to check the laser safety feature is functional in a node. When the laser safety feature is switched ON, in an event of optical receive signal failure the optical transmit signal is switched OFF thereby protecting the laser from undesirable operation. Test Equipment Power meter, Local Craft Terminal (LCT), Fiber optic patch cord

OPT TX Test Procedure:

OPTICAL Power meter

Connect the power meter on the STM optical unit by using optical patch cords and transmit the respectively STM signal. Using the LCT establish connection on the SDH node and monitor for any current alarms. Set the Automatic Laser Shutdown (ALS) to ON using the LCT software. Now, disconnect the receive optical path cord on the STM optical unit. This disconnection will be enable the ALS feature on the node. Record the result. Repeat the above procedure for other cards/Ports al
