One of the recently discovered functions of GPs is in the development of babies during pregnancy.

GPs are what allow the body to know when to stop making one type of tissue, like liver, and begin making bone or kidney. Some believe this may be an answer to preventing many birth defects. There also have been studies showing the body's inability to respond effectively to viruses, bacteria, and even genetic impairment as a result of a deficiency of the essential saccharides. Numerous medical studies on a variety of health problems have been and continue to be published.
This is the most exciting discovery ever regarding the immune system. The scientists and doctors who originally developed and standardized the active ingredient in aloe vera (one essential saccharide called mannose), have now through scientific advancements found natural sources of the other 8 known essential (mono)saccharides. This glyconutrient complex provides not just one, but all the essential components making the 8 or more major components and minor critical components that when deficient may prevent proper function of GPs, cells and genes. Mannose from the gel in aloe vera's inner leaf is only one component. Other components include: Arabinogalactan (Larix decidua), gum ghatti, & gum tragacanth. Once these glyconutrients are added into the diet the viruses, bacteria, or yeasts start communicating and our immune factors can detect them. So not only are the good cells now able to call for help; and the immune factors now functioning optimally; but greatest of all, the pathogens are no longer able to survive by being unidentified. Therefore as expected, now that the lights are turned on for these hidden pathogens, the immune system goes into high gear destroying them and discharging them from the system. This may be observed by mucous discharges from lungs or sinuses or by skin rashes and acceleration of other elimination systems. This is exciting to see our bodies finally able to rid themselves of these toxins that would otherwise continue to build up in the body diminishing good health and longevity. And no more auto-immune aggression to good cells that previously could not say, I'm OK; I'm you, don't destroy me. With rheumatoid arthritis we find a similar thing. It has been scientifically shown that people with rheumatoid arthritis have a malformed glycoprotein on their defense cell, specifically on their IgG antibody, where they are missing a terminal galactose. In fact the extent to which this galactose molecule is missing correlates directly with the disease severity. Because viruses can hide within our cells, an immune-compromised person will suffer relapsing and debilitating diseases such as chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, because the immune system will be unable to detect their presence as a result of failures in glycosylation. The 'information' cannot be passed from the 'occupied' or 'infested' cell to the macrophage.

Fucose (not to be confused with Fructose, a fruit sugar that is not essential) is readily found in several medicinal mushrooms, and such seaweeds as kelp and wakame, and beer yeast. Galactose is everywhere: Dairy Products; Fruits (Apples, Apricots, Bananas, Blackberries, Cherries, Cranberries, Currants, Dates, Grapes, Kiwi Fruit, Mangos, Oranges, Nectarines, Peaches, Pears, Pineapples, Plums, Prunes, Raspberries, Rhubarb, Strawberries, Passionfruit; Herbs (Echinacea, Boswellia, Fenugreek); Chestnuts; Vegetables (Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Avocado, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumber, Potatoes, Eggplant, Tomatoes, Leeks, Asparagus, Lettuce, Green Beans, Mushrooms (not buttons), Beetroot, Onions, Parsnips, Green Peas, Pumpkins, Spinach. Glucose is also everywhere, but the following examples are better sources than what is found in the average diet that consists of processed foods: Maple Syrup, Honey, Grapes, Bananas, Cherries, Strawberries, Mangoes, Aloe Vera Gel, Licorice Herb, Sarsaparilla, Hawthorn, Garlic, Kelp, and Echinacea. Mannose is not difficult to find. One of the main sources is Aloe Vera Gel. Other sources include Fenugreek (contains a high amount of galactomannan [as does Carob gum and Guar gum], a polysaccharide of Mannose and Galactose), Black or Red Currants, Gooseberries, Green Beans, Capsicum (cayenne pepper), Cabbage, Eggplant, Tomatoes, Turnips, Shiitake Mushrooms, and Kelp. N-acetylgalactosamine is abundant in Bovine and Shark cartilages (Shark cartilage should not be used by those with diabetes or kidney disease), red algae called Dumontiaceae, and as a constituent of Chondroitin sulfate (a useful sugar but not essential). It is often combined with Glucosamine as a treatment for osteoarthritis. Using both together (Glucosamine and Chondroitin) the absorption rates of both dramatically increases. N-acetylglucosamine is most often found as Glucosamine Sulfate, a dietary supplement used to treat arthritis. It is also found in Shiitake Mushrooms (as a constituent of chitin) and in Bovine and Shark cartilage. (Shark cartilage should not be used by diabetics or those with kidney disease.) N-acetylneuraminic acid (sialic acid) is found in whey protein isolate or concentrate not the powder (the concentrate has a higher amount than the isolate) and hens egg (organic is best) Xylose (not to be confused with Xylitol, a sugar substitute) can be found in Guava, Pears, Blackberries, Loganberries, Raspberries, Aloe Vera Gel, Kelp, Echinacea, Boswellia, Psyllium, Broccoli, Spinach, Eggplant, Peas, Green Beans, Okra, Cabbage, and Corn.
