4.2 Printer Sensors

Paper Out The paper out sensor is located in the print head. It terminates the print operation when the paper has run out and checks for proper form registration. Correct a paper out condition by loading paper into the printer. Paper Low The paper low sensor is located in the paper tray. It determines when the paper stack has approximately 14 tickets remaining. The paper_low status is reported after the unit has printed out 10 more tickets. A paper low condition automatically resets once a new paper stack is loaded and the printer has been idle for some seconds. Paper Taken The paper taken sensor is located near the paper outlet. It determines when the customer has actually taken the cashout ticket. Drawer Open The drawer open sensor detects when the printer is open. Platen Engaged The platen engaged sensor is located in the print head. It detects when the printer platen is in use. Printer Open The printer open sensor is located in the front of the unit. It detects when the printer lid is open. Note: The actual status of certain sensors can be checked by using the host machine diagnostic function. Enter the host machine Service Menu, select "Diagnostics" and navigate to the printer test menu.

5. Mounting

5. Mounting
This is brief instruction how to mount a GEN2 printer into a Harmony or an e-motion cabinet. Please note that for emotion machines usually a blue bezel is used. A mounting instruction for Cashline machines is available as a seperate document. 1. Check printer DIP switch settings (see chapter 6.5 DIP Switch Settings). 2. Mount the bezel LED board to the front bezel. The earthing cable has to be mounted as illustrated. Do not squeeze the cables between PCB and bezel. Note: Please note that the GEN2 printer uses a shorter bezel than the old Seiko/FutureLogic PSA-66-ST (GEN1) printer.

3. Mount the bezel to the printer. Connect it to the bezel port and fix the cables with a cable tie as illustrated.

4. Slide out the printer drawer and mount the retainer plate under the printer using 4 hex nuts M4. Take care not to damage the copper earthing clips on the bottom of the unit.

5. Thread the printer cable harness (connects the printer spiral cable to the filterboard signal) into the cabinet. Connect it to connector P1 at the filterboard signal (upper left) and the other end to the 14-pin Molex connector of the printer spiral cable. Leave the two smaller connectors of the printer spiral cable free.

5. Mounting 5. Mounting cont. ... 5. Mount the printer with attached retainer plate into the cabinet and fix it with 2 knurled nuts. Do not fully tighten the knurled nuts to allow mounting depth adjustment along the obholes.

6. Remove the cover from the maindoor printer recess and mount the printer frame cover instead (use a T10 torx screwdriver). Do not fully tighten the screws to allow adjustment.

7. Now carefully close the maindoor and check the frame position. Adjust the printer mounting depth and the printer frame cover allignment for best fitting. The printer outlet should be in the middle of the frame cover and the space arround the outlet should be as small as possible. The unit should not be under pressure when the maindoor is closed.

8. When the allignment is done, do fully tighten the screws that hold the frame cover and the knurled nuts that hold the printer. Again make sure that the unit is not under pressure when the maindoor is closed. At this point the mouting is completed.

6. Operating

6. Operating
6.1 Loading Paper
1. Make sure that power is applied to the printer. 2. Slide open the printer drawer until the paper tray is completely accessible. 3. Remove any loaded paper remaining from the old paper stack. 4. Remove the tear off band from the new paper stack and place the paper stack into the paper tray. Important: The printable (blank) side has to face down (even if otherwise stated on the paper itself). The top of form mark has to be on the leading edge of the ticket, facing upwards. Note: To prevent a new ticket stack from sticking together, fan out the paper before you place it in the paper tray.

5. Insert the leading ticket into the printer mechanism. When the ticket is fed about 15 mm into the mechanism, the printer automatically completes the feeding. 6. Remove the excess tickets from the printer. 7. Slide in the printer drawer. The printer is now ready for printing.

6.2Feed Button
Use the FEED button located on the keypad to remove remaining paper of an old paper stack or to advance loaded paper to the next index mark.
